My beauty anti-wishlist September 2019

Hi friends!

Although I will be talking lots about launches and news that excites me this month (check out the intro to September’s blog theme here), today’s post is all about the things that don’t excite me. Yup, it’s my beauty anti-wishlist September 2019! A monthly tradition on here for a year now. Every month I pick out five newish product launches that just don’t do it for me for whatever reason, and then I tell you why. No disrespect meant of course; just some chatter and a bit of gossip.

If you can’t get enough of this type of thing, check out some of my earlier lists linked below!

Now let’s get into the September list!

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS NORVINA PRO PALETTE VOL. 1

Lately I feel like I’m moving away from eyeshadow palettes; it’s just a bit of a pattern I’m in right now. I’m more attracted to the ease of a single shadow, especially for everyday wear. While I’m sure this Norvina Pro Palette Vol. 1 is phenomenal quality (ABH doesn’t mess around with their shadows), it seems too big and bold for my current makeup preferences. I do love how this isn’t just another neutral palette though; if I was a professional MUA I’d probably be all over it. You get a whopping 25 shadows for $60.00 after all! But I’m pretty set with the palettes I currently have, so I’ll pass.

CHARLOTTE TILBURY AIRBRUSH FLAWLESS FOUNDATION

I feel Charlotte Tilbury’s complexion products are made for those who want that whole red-carpet-Instagram-perfection kinda look. That’s cool, but it’s just not my vibe when it comes to skin. This new Airbrush Flawless Foundation seems to fit into that perfected category from what I’ve gathered. It’s a full coverage formula with a “natural matte” finish. Supposedly it’s not going to dry your skin out, but I’m still not convinced when the product claims include “waterproof” and “transfer-resistant.” It also has some magic anti-wrinkle ingredients that activate within eight weeks of use. Again, all well and good for those who want something like that, but I’ll stick with my lighter coverage foundations and tinted moisturizers.

HUDA BEAUTY LIFE LINER

I’ve been super open about my struggles with black eyeliner on the blog. I just have no patience for liner, and therefore I’m quite crap at it! So when I heard that Huda Beauty was releasing their first ever eyeliner this month, I could muster nothing more than a blank stare at the screen. But if you love your black liner, you may want to listen up! It’s called the Life Liner, and apparently it’s dual-ended with a pencil on one end and a liquid on the other. It’s smudge-proof and extremely long-wearing; like 48-hour kinda long-wearing, supposedly. I can’t wait for the ‘I Wore the Huda Beauty Life Liner for 48 hours Straight’ videos to come out on YouTube soon!

It launches on Sept. 12th on Huda’s website and on the 18th everywhere else the brand is sold. I know my mom is intrigued to try it, but I’m good with my L’Oreal Infallible Waterproof Liners for now.

GUERLAIN PARURE GOLD MIST

I initially spied this on Trendmood’s Instagram page, and oh my goodness what a princess product! Now, I’m not hating on princess products at all (I have a few myself), but I’m not sure anyone can convince me that face mists need to be this expensive. It’s a $46.00 mist from Guerlain that sets your makeup and helps hydrate & protect your skin apparently. Let that sink in: $46.00…I just couldn’t go that far down the rabbit hole when it comes to a product like this. I’d rather spend that on amazing skincare or beautiful cosmetics that will make me look amazing and feel confident. Not on a mist, sorry Guerlain.

Actually I’m just starting to experiment with mists now to see if they really make a difference to my skin and/or makeup. Rest assured, I’m starting on the much lower end of the price scale. Stay tuned for a post later on this month all about it!

FLORENCE BY MILLS BEAUTY LINE

Well Millie Bobby Brown is now one of the latest in a long line of celebrities starting beauty brands. If you don’t know who MBB is, chances are you’re not a Stranger Things fan. Gasp – such an amazing show! Anyways, Millie is only 15 years old so she designed a beauty line for…who else…teenagers. A teenager I am not, so therefore this line just wasn’t made for someone like me. However if I was a teenager I’m sure I’d be all over this cause the packaging is adorable! It looks like there’s a nice mix of skincare and makeup here that’s perfect for someone just starting out with beauty products. So if you have teenagers, know them or are one – this may be for you! It launches exclusively at Ulta on Sept. 8th.
