Hi friends!
It’s a new month, which means it’s time for the May edition of my beauty anti-wishlist! Here are five new products and launches that won’t be making it into either my physical or virtual cart anytime soon. As always, here are my two disclaimers: 1) I have not tried any of these products (obvs), and 2) this is based solely on my personal preferences. Some of the brands I’ve included this time may surprise you, but it all goes to show that you can’t love or want everything one brand puts out; there’s always going to be hits and misses for everyone.
Before we dive into this month’s list, I’d be remiss if I didn’t at least direct your attention to my previous anti-wishlists. If you’d like to catch up or read them for the first time, here are some quick links: September / October / November / December / January / February / March / April.
OK, now let’s get into May’s list!
MAC COSMETICS DISNEY ALADDIN COLLECTION

MAC Cosmetics Instagram
I know I just came off a bit of a love fest in April with MAC here on the blog, but I’m not going to let that stop me from including them here! The new Aladdin reboot is coming to theaters later in May, so MAC has collaborated with Disney (who runs the world these days) on an Aladdin-inspired makeup collection. I’m just kinda sick of all these film & TV collaborations lately in the beauty world. Everything just seems a bit gimmicky to me, and a money grab for all parties involved. The colors here seem nice enough, and I’m sure the quality will be good, but I’m just not interested or excited by the idea of this.
The entire MAC Disney Aladdin Collection will launch May 16th and include:
- nine-pan eyeshadow palette
- 4 lipsticks
- 3 lip glasses (or glosses)
- 1 highlighter
- 1 bronzer

MILK MAKEUP KUSH WATERPROOF MASCARA

Milk Makeup Instagram
Let me preface this by saying I’d really like to try the regular Kush Mascara from Milk sometime in the near future. (As you all know, I loveee trying new mascaras!) I’ve heard very mixed reviews on it, but you only know what works for you by trying it yourself. Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, I really don’t care for waterproof mascaras in general. If I have a choice between regular and waterproof formulas, I always pick regular. I just find waterproof way too hard to remove at the end of the day, and I often don’t like how dry they appear on my lashes. That’s why this newer version of Kush Mascara made it onto my beauty anti-wishlist this month.
I should say, I usually don’t have a problem with smudging or smearing mascaras (perhaps because my skin is so dry, I’m not sure). I know people that absolutely have to use waterproof formulas all the time, but I’m not one of them, at least right now.

FENTY BEAUTY PRO KISS’R LIP-LOVING SCRUBSTICK / PRO KISS’R LUSCIOUS LIP BALM

Fenty Beauty Instagram
I’m sure we’ll be seeing skincare very soon from Fenty, and I guess these lip care products are their first foray into that world. I feel like everyone needs a lip scrub and a lip balm in their life, especially if you live a climate where you experience multiple seasons. That being said, I just don’t believe you need to pay premium for these kinds of items so that’s why I’m passing on these. The Pro Kiss’R Scrubstick is $16.00, while the Lip Balm is $18.00. Both products launch May 10th.
You can go to the drugstore and get Aquaphor, Burt’s Bees, or Vaseline. Done. While I do think having a lipscrub in a stick is a very convenient and nifty idea, it’s been done before. Again, you can go to the drugstore and pick up the Elf Lip Exfoliator & Lip Scrub, which is a lovely and effective little product that’s only $3.00!

CHARLOTTE TILBURY DREAMGASM EYESHADOW PALETTE

Charlotte Tilbury Instagram
I know, I know! I can’t believe Charlotte Tilbury made it into my beauty anti-wishlist either! I usually covet and drool over her products. And I’m not saying I’m not drooling over this new limited edition Dreamgasm (really with that name?) Eyeshadow Palette. BUT. I. JUST. DON’T. NEED. IT. This is what I keep repeating to myself over and over again. I have three of her Luxury Palettes now in my collection, and just as you’d expect from a $53.00 item the quality is amazinggg. Buttery smooth textures, easy blendability, punchy pigments – they’ve got it all. The colors in this palette are absolutely beautiful and perfect for spring, but I have to draw the line somewhere you know?

BITE BEAUTY OUTBURST LONGWEAR LIP STAIN

Bite Beauty Instagram
I so wish I could experience more from Bite Beauty! Their lipsticks look beautiful, both in texture and in color. But a few years ago I had such a horrific allergic reaction to their Agave Lip Mask that my lips almost disintegrated. They blew up, blistered and then flaked away like a snake shedding their skin. It took an entire month or so for my lips and all the skin around it to return to normal. I had to go to a dermatologist and everything – horrible!
Well ever since then I’ve been terrified to try anything from this brand, even their color cosmetics. So even though these new lip stains looks beautiful, and even though I’m very intrigued by their “waterproof” claim (has anyone ever claimed their lip product was waterproof before?), I just can’t sacrifice my lips to them!

What’s on your beauty anti-wishlist this month? I’d love to know!

I could easily pass on those items as well! I would avoid anything by Bite if I had a reaction like yours ! Wise move .😳
Very true!
I agree with the whole Disney thing. They should leave stuff like that to the little kids. I don’t buy makeup just because Disney is involved. 🤔
I think a lot of people do, so that’s why they do these collaborations! People went crazy over the Disney Villian x ColourPop Collection. Nothing impressed me there either.
I don’t know why but I really really really want the highlighter from the Aladdin collection! I can’t explain it. I found the disney designer collection from ColourPop gimicky, and the villains collection didn’t really speak to be but the Aladdin collection does? Maybe it’s because I’m actually looking forward to the movie!
I also had the exact same thought about the Fenty Lip Scrub. The elf one is FINE! It works, why buy something that’s like four times the price!?
It’s so fun seeing what’s on everyone’s wish lists and anti-haul lists!
Maybe if I saw the items in store, I’d feel differently about them, but I don’t know.
I loveee when higher-end brands come out with lip care products and are like, pay us $30 – $40 for a LIP. BALM. No thanks, ma’am! I can rub coconut oil on myself for a fraction of the price 🤨.
It’s hard to say from just looking online sometimes.
Exactly! There are so many affordable lip balms that do the job well, I don’t need these luxury lip balms!
I prefer regular mascaras over waterproof ones, too, & I totally agree that the lip balm & scrub are just a bit overpriced for what they are. I am definitely surprised to see Charlotte Tillbury on your list but I get what you mean about needing to draw the line lol. Can’t believe what happened to your lips after using Bite Beauty the first time. Scary! I’d stay away if I were you, too!
Yea it was probably the worst reaction I had to a product ever! Nightmares!
