Hi friends!
It’s that time again. Yes, yes. It’s time to talk about all the beauty shizz I don’t want instead of do want. So I present to you my beauty anti-wishlist June 2019 edition! If you’re new here, every month I pick five relatively new product launches that either don’t inspire me or just don’t fit my preferences or standard routine. You guys seem to love this series, which is great because I love pulling each month’s list together!
I always mention in these posts that this series is not meant as a knock on any particular brand or their hard work. This really just comes down to my own preferences.
Before we get into the new list, make sure you check out my previous posts in this series!
September 2018 / October 2018 / November 2018 / December 2018 / January 2019 / February 2019 / March 2019 / April 2019 / May 2019
Now onto June!
OHII BEAUTY SOFT GLOW HIGHLIGHTER
OK, this is by no means a new or recent launch. (I’ve broken my own rules, whoops.) This cream highlighter palette from Ohii actually launched last fall 2018 when the brand initially debuted. I did a whole brand overview on Ohii, which you can read here. At the time of writing that post I was kinda interested in picking up this Soft Glow Highlighter (particularly in the shade Cosmic Jasper, pictured above). I absolutely love a cream highlight!
However, I just recently found myself in an Urban Outfitters store and finally swatched this product in person. While I love the tones and the texture, I was disappointed to find that this shade was loaded with glitter (I realize you can’t tell from this photo, but take my word for it!). Who wants to put glitter on their cheeks?? Maybe if it’s Halloween or you’re going to a music festival or something, fine. But on the day-to-day? Nah. I’m OK with shimmer or pearl on the cheeks, but nothing too chunky or obvious please.

JEFFREE STAR COSMETICS THE GLOSS
I’ll be curt here. I don’t support Jeffree Star anymore, so I simply won’t buy his products. To be fair, the majority of his makeup line doesn’t cater to my tastes so it’s not a big loss for me. (I did buy one of his liquid lipsticks way back, and while I did like the formula the color was just too bright for me. It ended up in a declutter pile.) I used to watch all of his videos, followed him on social media etc, but no more. If you’re not familiar with his unprofessional behavior and antics, just do a simple Google search and it’ll all be there. Honestly it’s just too much to list here!
The Gloss is his latest launch but admittedly I’m not a big lip gloss fan anyway. And have you seen the promo images?? They look very odd to me. Hard pass.
ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS SUMMER 2019 COLLECTION

Entire ABH Summer 2019 Collection including body oil, pigments, and mini lipsticks.

ABH Loose Pigments from Summer 2019 Collection
I’m sorry, anytime I see the words “body oil,” my eyes just glaze over. So not my thing, although I’m sure there are people out there who love the stuff. I just think of oil on the body and I think grease. Definitely not something I want anywhere near me. Where am I supposed to wear shimmer body oil? To the beach? On a night out? Maybe if I’m on a red carpet under glaring lights, having my picture taken! And did I mention that this Shimmer Body Oil from Anastasia Beverly Hills is a whopping $38.00??
Also part of the ABH Summer Collection are five shimmery loose pigments (sold separately for $22.00 or as part of a set for $90.00), and a set of 4 mini lipsticks for $21.00. I’m sure the loose pigments are beautiful in person but I never reach for pigments – too messy for my liking. And as far as the lipsticks go, if I’m going to buy a set of 4 minis I’m more likely to give it away as a gift than keep it for myself, ya know?

COLOURPOP BLUE MOON SHADOW PALETTE
Another month, another ColourPop shadow palette release. They just can’t help themselves. I know blue eyeshadow comes back into trend every spring/summer (and I will be talking about bright colors this month, don’t you worry!), but I just can’t get on board with an entire blue palette. Too intimidating to me, and even though it’s super affordable at $12.00 I probably wouldn’t reach for it enough if I did own it. However I would love a single of Da Be Dee (first row, middle shade) or Moonlite (first row, last shade). Those are really interesting shades!

HUDA BEAUTY NEON OBSESSIONS PALETTES
While I love the quality and color stories of most of the mini Huda Beauty Obsessions Palettes, I just don’t see myself getting a lot of use out of these new Neon Obsessions Palettes. I do think they look super fun, and I’m sure the quality is lovely. Just not for me. They come in three color schemes: Green, Pink & Orange. Interestingly, I noticed that these retail for $29.00. The regular Obsessions Palettes only retail for $27.00 with the same amount of shades. Hmm? Perhaps it has to do with the product weight, but regardless I thought it was a bit curious.

What is on your beauty anti-wishlist this month? I’d love to know!

I have never heard or Ohii, this is a first. And considering they just launched last year I guess that would explain a lot lol.
The JSC gloss isnt appealing to me either. Idk if it’s the packaging or what lol.
I thought about buying the CP Blue Moon palette BUT I already have the JSC Blue Blood, cant really justify having two 🤷♀️
Ohii is Urban Outfitters in-house beauty brand that launched last year. Their products are really appealing to me overall, but this highlighter was not what I expected when I saw it in person!
Yea, I think ColourPop and some other brands are definitely jumping on that Blue Blood craze!
Ah I would have never guessed, since I don’t really shop there.
I’m not really interested in Jefree Star anymore either. He is on my brand anti-haul list and I have no intention of supporting him either.
I DID purchase the Blue Moon palette though, I couldn’t help myself! When i look at it I see 10 year old me catching my first blue yoshi in Mario. SUPER weird, I know, but the colours literally bring back memories for me haha
I’m also curious about the ABH body oil, but I don’t know if i’d use it since I can barely bother with body lotion most days haha.
Great list! x
Thanks so much girl! If ColourPop brought out a few of those periwinkle-type shades as singles, I’d be all over it without a doubt! I’m just too intimidated by an all-blue palette but the colors themselves look lovely. Are you going to do a review after you use it? Cause I’d love to hear about the quality.
I get that! The good thing about the palettes is that the shades are magnetic so they can be arranged in a z palette too! But it with be nice to be able to just pick and choose a few. I will definitely be reviewing it, my order finally shipped yesterday so hopefully It will show up next week 🙂
Oh good, can’t wait to read your thoughts!
The Blue Moon does look pretty but I’m waiting for more people to review it as realistically I’m not sure how much wear I’d get from it. The Huda Neon palettes look interesting too!
I actually in a way “like” all the palettes I listed here, but when you put the shades all together it’s just all a bit too much for me! I think Huda does great quality shadows in cool colors, but I just can’t imagine neons on me!
You had me googling Jefree Star! The whole blue eyeshadow craze is a total throwback to the 1980’s and how everyone wore blue eyeshadow back then. I even remember and I was in preschool!
Ha! Oh my gosh, you find A LOT when you Google him! Totally, there’s nothing more stereotypical of the 80s than blue eyeshadow right? Well perhaps big hair too!
Wow did you bring back high school memories! There were VERY few colors of eyeshadow when I was in high school and the only colors I wore were blue & green! I even used blue and green eye liner….lol
Well, they’re back again!! 😉😊
I don’t understand body oils & loose pigments are too messy for me, too. 🤣
Exactly!
