Hi friends!
Well, it’s that time again. Time to talk about all the things I don’t want or am not looking forward to. It’s my beauty anti-wishlist July 2019 edition! If you’re new here every month I gather up five newish beauty launches that just aren’t cutting it for me, and tell you why. Usually I put a disclaimer on each post in this series saying something like, this is not meant as a knock on the brands themselves, etc. But in all honesty this list is a bit different. I find most of these brands questionable for one reason or another (except the first two listed), which I’ll get into in a moment.
Before you jump into this month’s list, make sure you check back at some of my earlier lists. I have the latest four linked for you below, but I’ve been doing this series since September 2018 so there’s lots for you to read if you so desire!
Catch up: June | May | April | March
Now let’s get into July’s list!
KKW BEAUTY SKIN PERFECTING BODY FOUNDATION / COLLECTION
To be honest, I’ve never been tempted to buy anything yet from KKW Beauty so this new Body Collection isn’t helping to change my mind. It’s already completely sold out online anyway, as often happens with new launches from the Kardashians.
The collection contains:
- The Skin Perfecting Body Foundation (pictured above) – $45.00
- Loose Shimmer Powder for Face & Body – $27.00
- Skin Perfecting Body Shimmer – $35.00
- Body Brush – $32.00
I can understand how a collection like this would be very useful to those suffering from skin disorders or auto-immune disorders that affect greater parts of the body. I believe Kim herself has psoriasis and she shows how she covers it up on her legs using this foundation; there’s a video up on the brand’s Instagram showing this.
But since I personally don’t suffer from these issues, I just don’t see how I would get any use from body makeup products. Unless I’m on photoshoot or red carpet where everything needs to look perfected, to me this just isn’t practical for everyday use.

MAC FIX + NEW SUMMER SCENTS
I believe every summer MAC comes out with new limited edition scents of their iconic setting spray, Fix +, correct me if I’m wrong. This year it’s Watermelon, Pineapple, White Tea, & Peony. This is actually not about the scents at all; I’m sure they’re all lovely. Unfortunately I think I may be allergic to Fix +, which is a total shame because the effect it gives on the skin is beautiful! The last time I sprayed it on my face after makeup I was sneezing and itching for the rest of the day. Sad times. I could probably still use it to wet my brushes but I rarely apply my shadows wet. I’d just rather not risk it altogether.

HALO BEAUTY BODY & BRAIN BOOSTER MULTI-VITAMIN
This is quite simple: I don’t take multi-vitamins at this point in my life (maybe I should), and I’m certainly not going to start with an influencer-created version. If you don’t know Halo Beauty is beauty YouTuber Tati Westbrook’s supplement company; you may know her by her former moniker Glam Life Guru. I don’t know about you but I feel ambivalent about a non-nutritionist/non-pharmacist/non-chemist, however you want to say it, creating ingestible products. Am I alone here?
Plus, after all the very public drama earlier this year between Tati, James Charles and Jeffree Star, I’ve chosen not to support her anymore. It’s a shame as I was a long-time subscriber of her channel, but there are plenty of others to watch on YouTube who are drama-free.

REVOLUTION PRO NEW NEUTRAL LUXE SHADOW PALETTE
I couldn’t seem to get a good photo of the entire New Neutral Luxe Shadow Palette from Revolution Beauty, or Revolution Pro, anywhere. But I could tell right away from merely looking at just a few shadows that this was yet another one of their total knockoff products. Revolution have a very well-known penchant for copying – almost exactly but just different enough – popular higher-end palettes. They change the outer packaging, and slap a new name on it but that’s where the differences usually end. This one is clearly a rip-off of the Huda Beauty The New Nude Palette down to the shades, to the textures, and the overall set-up.
Now you all know that I loveee a good drugstore dupe; I’ve written entire posts on them many times on here before. I truly believe almost anything can be duped if you look hard enough. However, there’s a difference between finding a drugstore dupe for something more expensive and one company copying another’s company finished product. Revolution’s intention is to copy, not merely to give customers something similar. I hope you can understand what I’m saying. (For reference, the Huda palette is $65.00 for 18 shades, while the Revolution palette is $20.00 for 18 shades.)
I do have a problem with that. Get your own ideas. Or don’t make it so obvious what you’re doing. I read somewhere that customers tell Revolution what palettes they want copied and they deliver. If that’s true, it still doesn’t make it right in my eyes. No one is entitled to get the exact same product for cheaper.

JUVIA’S PLACE I AM MAGIC VELVETY MATTE FOUNDATION
I was initially excited for the launch of Juvia’s Place first complexion products, as they promised oodles of shades in every undertone. But after hearing about the brand owner’s very unprofessional behavior on Twitter and Instagram, I’m seriously reconsidering ordering from Juvia’s Place again. (For clarity – I will still use the products I already own from them as they’re bomb and I don’t believe in waste.)
I’m just getting really sick of all the buffoonery that goes down on social media. If you’re an adult, a professional and the owner of a major up-and-coming makeup brand, get a grip and don’t degrade all your hard work over influencer squabbles on Twitter. What happened to taking the high road, am I right? Click here if you want a snapshot of what went down.
What is on your beauty anti-wishlist this month? I’d love to know!
