Hi friends!
New month, new products that I can’t be bothered with. Yes, it’s the anti-wishlist March edition folks. These are five new launches from ColourPop, Kylie Cosmetics, Beauty Bakerie, Glossier & Farsali that I won’t be picking up anytime soon, based completely on personal preference.
Before we get into the new list, make sure you catch up on my previous lists here: Sept., Oct., Nov., Dec., Jan., Feb.
Let’s dive into March now!
COLOURPOP X ZOELLA BRUNCH COLLECTION

A lot of bloggers have put their two cents in already on this newly launched collection from ColourPop, so here are my cents. Yawn, yawn, yawn. I’m sure the textures are lovely, but none of the colors are speaking to me and telling me to open my wallet. This is the problem with e-commerce brands; the customers can’t see the products IRL and touch and feel them before buying. We have to go off what we see on a screen, which can look very different from the way a product looks when it’s in front of you. ColourPop, get your ass back in Ulta so I can actually sample your products!
Rant over. This is a pretty hefty collection: an eye palette, 3 lip bundles, 3 ultra matte liquid lips, 2 cream shadows, 2 eyeliners, 1 powder highlighter, 1 powder blush, and 1 makeup bag. The theme is brunch (OK?) and it’s a Zoella collab (don’t care for her either way). No thanks, next.

KYLIE COSMETICS SETTING POWDERS

I’m including this here purely because I don’t ever use loose setting powders, and I don’t foresee Kylie Cosmetics changing my preferences on that anytime soon. This launch releases on March 7th in 6 different shades. Not sure about the price right now, but I’m sure they will be fairly affordable.
BEAUTY BAKERIE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING PALETTE

I’m really keen to try something from Beauty Bakerie one of these days, but I’m afraid this newly launched eyeshadow palette just isn’t it. I have these colors already in my collection, and let’s be honest, this just isn’t anything new or exciting. Pass.

GLOSSIER MILKY OIL WATERPROOF MAKEUP REMOVER

We’re not going to dive into Glossier Play in this post (I might tackle that in a separate post either later this week or next week), but this is the newest launch from Glossier proper. Supposedly it’s part micellar water, part lightweight oil to effectively remove all your (even stubborn) makeup. But at $12.00 (plus shipping) I prefer to keep using my Garnier micellar water that I can easily pick up from any drugstore for nearly half the price.

FARSALI ROSE GOLD SKIN MIST

I just don’t understand the whole face mist market. Am I missing something? Just seems like an extra step I don’t need for everyday makeup. Perhaps if my skin was oilier I would have more appreciation, I admit that. Anyways this new mist from Farsali, which launches on March 12th, is supposedly a 4-in-1 product that you can use to hydrate, prep, set & refresh your makeup throughout the day. It looks super cool with the gold flakes, and has beautiful packaging, but it’s a no from me. Unless someone can convert me to using face mists.
What’s on your anti-wishlist this month? I’d love to know!
xo, Erica
PIN IT!
The pacaging on the ColourPop reminds me of the fake makeup I got as a kid. 🙂 I agree with you on the face mist. I’m not really into all that.
There so much packaging out there that looks like kid makeup, it’s crazy! 😆
So much of it looks like bland crap wrapped up in slick packaging. 🤨
Ha, true! I’ve definitely bought bland crap in the past because the packaging was great. So, guilty here!
This may sound ridiculous, but the beauty bakerie packaging annoys me… The bananas look like buttons. Sorry, had to get that off my chest lol! And yes the colours are just neutural and a bit dull.
I’ve never understood the Zoella hype. I’ve watched her on YouTube a few times, and find her boring and a tad annoying… I just don’t see the appeal or how she stands out. I’m not keen on the pallet… The names just a bit gross, and the colours are all a little too strong together… At least give me one blending or cream shade to work with. I hate having to use multiple pallets for one look.
Also agree with you with the setting spray, I should give one a go, but sure that I’ll want to dab my face after! Great blog! 🙂 X
Thank you Kaya! I feel like there are so many palettes out there with neutral shades and a one pop of blue. It’s like the color of choice now, whether it’s navy, indigo, or whatever it’s always blue! Just not original.
Zoe has always seemed a bit much for me; I tried watching her vlogs years ago and I just couldn’t connect. I guess she seemed way too young for me; maybe if I was a teenager I would have liked her content more.
I enjoy your beauty anti-wish lists, Erica! I would probably not get the bakerie one either because I already tend to buy all those colors. I think if you are a designer brand, your audience is more likely to go for stand-out shades instead of taupe and vanilla 🙂
I love neutrals and wear them most days, but I guess palettes are just boring me lately. How many of the same colors do we need??
Right?! 🙂
Erica, I never happened to use any of the above product but I always admire your Anti beauty wishlist. You really have a sense of picking a good beauty products and condemned the one are not worth trying.
Thank you so much Bushra ❤️
I’m not a fan of that Zoella collection either! So boring! same with that Beauty Bakerie palette, it’s all boring neutrals. Maybe if I didn’t already have my go to neutral shades I would be interested.
That glossier product reminds me of those bottles of glue you’d have in grade school for arts and crafts xD The packaging is so strange to me.
I do love my face mists though! The air is so dry here that sometimes I actually do like to just spritz my face throughout the day lol. At least in my house!
I love your new blog design, it looks really sharp! Do you have a way to see your most recent posts in chronological order though? I saw that there’s a slider at the top but it seems to cycle through the same few posts. And then there’s just the popular posts tab. I want to make sure I don’t miss anything!
Oh my gosh, never thought of that with the glue bottles!! I don’t necessarily mind the packaging on that product, it’s just that I know I can get something cheaper and something more accessible.
Thanks so much for your feedback on the new blog design! So glad you like it! Yea, the slider defaults to my 4 most recent posts at any given time. I now have all my posts categorized at the top of the screen in the pink banner. This way you can search for exactly what you want as opposed to having to scroll through all my posts looking for something specific (which is the issue I had with the design I had previously). Thought it was better this way for navigation purposes!
It’s not the worst packaging, that’s just what comes to mind 😄
Oh ok, I’ll need to go through the tabs! I really like that it displays a shorter summary of each post so I don’t need to scroll through everything to see the next post. It looks great 🙂
I didn’t know Colourpop doesn’t sell in Ulta anymore?! & I agree, that Beauty Bakerie palette does look super boring!! I do think I would love to try that milk from Glossier though, it’s pretty lol. Maybe that skin mist, too… 😀
I remember looking up ColourPop at Ulta sometime last year, and I believe they came and went from there. I guess the partnership didn’t work out? Not sure. It’s a shame cause I’ve always wanted to see their products in person before I buy.
I’m sure the Glossier milk is good, it’s just I know I can get something cheaper and quicker just by going to the drugstore. You know?
Oh that’s interesting to know! Colourpop is still sold on their website though. Did they just remove them from the stores?!
They had a select amount of products in stores for a while, but I believe they’re just online now. I don’t see the point of their partnership if they’re not going to be in Ulta stores, to be honest. Kylie’s been with Ulta for a while and at least her lip kits are in stores.
