Hi friends!
It’s time for my beauty anti-wishlist April edition! If you’re new to the blog, every month I gather five either relatively new or upcoming beauty launches and tell you why I’m not particularly interested in purchasing them. As always, this is based purely on personal preference and is not meant as a judgement against any brand. In fact, I choose to feature here a lot of products from brands I like very much. You just can’t like everything, you know?
If you’re interested in catching up on all or some of my previous anti-wishlists, here are some quick links: September / October / November / December / January / February / March.
Let’s get into the April list now!
MILK MAKEUP – HYDRATING FACE MASK

I really want to try more Milk Makeup products, especially the Sunshine Skin Tint and their matte stick bronzer. Unfortunately this new Hydrating Face Mask ($24.00) with cannabis oil isn’t one of them. I’ve probably said this before on here, but I really don’t use face masks much if at all. So I’m afraid this would be so wasted in my collection if I bought it. However, I do think this stick format is an awesome idea that would probably cut back on mess and wasted product, so big kudos to Milk on the packaging.

PATRICK TA MAJOR GLOW BODY OIL

I believe this collection from MUA Patrick Ta just launched, but Sephora says it’s coming in late May to stores and online. Actually this isn’t just a collection launch but the launch of a new beauty brand from Patrick. While some of the items from the collection do appeal to me (Highlighting Mist & lip gloss), some others just don’t. I’m specifically talking about the Major Glow Body Oil, which comes in 2 shades and retails for $52.00.
I just don’t understand body oils; I thought the same thing when Fenty came out with the Body Lavas. Unless you’re going to be in a photoshoot or wearing a lot of low-neck or off-the-shoulder shirts or dresses in summer…what’s the point? They always look greasy to me, and to spend over $50 on one?? Nope, no thanks.

ULTA BEAUTY X MARVEL AVENGERS COLLECTION

I don’t know why but I just feel this is so incredibly random! Really Ulta? An Avengers collection? I can understand the ColourPop Disney Villian Collection, or even the Urban Decay Game of Thrones Collection (that’s coming next). But the Avengers franchise doesn’t exactly conjure up feelings of blinding highlight and glossy lips in my mind. Am I wrong? Regardless, here’s the collection none of us asked for and it includes:
- 1 15-pan eyeshadow palette – $20.00 (out of stock)
- 4 lip glosses – $10.00 each
- 4 matte liquid lipsticks – $10.00 each
- 1 4-pan highlighter palette – $16.00 (out of stock)
- 3 makeup bags (range from $12.00 – $28.00)
I have to admit that the eyeshadow palette doesn’t look boring, nor do I think the prices are bad. It just isn’t exciting me, you know? Pass.

URBAN DECAY X GAME OF THRONES COLLECTION

I know, I know. There are so many rabid GoT fans out there that will probably eat up this collection, which launches later this week. And I have to say, I am a GoT fan myself (bring on season 8 already!), but that being said I’m a little cautious of this. I’m not saying I absolutely don’t want any part of this collection, but I definitely would like to see the colors and packaging in store before I fully make up my mind. For instance, the eyeshadow palette looks horribly bulky and big online. But as we all know, online photos can be deceiving so we’ll see.
This collection includes:
- 1 20-pan eyeshadow palette – $65.00
- 4 24/7 Glide On Gel Eyeliners – $22.00 each
- 1 lip/cheek stain – $26.00
- 4 Vice Lipsticks – $19.00 each
- 1 3-pan highlighter palette – $36.00
- 2 eyeshadow brushes – $28.00 each
- Vault with all items – $250.00

BEADED HAIR CLIPS

So this isn’t exactly a launch, but instead a trend. I think this is the first time I’ve included an accessory in any of my anti-wishlists. These hair clips are all over Instagram. Like. All. Over. Either people are wearing them or casually posing them next to their beauty products. They look adorable and very pretty, but I’m not jumping on this trend train. I’ve tried to get into hair accessories over the years, from headbands to clips, but I just don’t think they suit me. My hair is incredibly thick; nothing small & dainty can hold it in place. And my hair never lays nicely whenever I do manage to pin it out of my face anyway. Oh well.
What’s on your beauty anti-wishlist this month? I’d love to know!
xo, Erica
PIN IT!
I totally agree about the GoT collection. Yes, it’s cute and would be a great collectors item but I don’t think I would actually ever use any of the products. I do like the idea of the eyeshadow palette though.

I rarely find I’m drawn to any sort of movie tie-in collections, it’s so weird! I guess it’s because, like you said, they more like collector’s items and therefore bigger and more expensive. I’m still intrigued by the liner pencils since I love that formula so much, and possibly the lip/cheek stain but I definitely want to swatch in store first!
Most I would say I would pass on but those hair clips are sooooo pretty! Wouldn’t mind having a few of those 😬
😉 They are cute indeed, but I just can’t get into hair accessories!
I agree with the body oils. I never understood that either. I really don’t want to go grocery shopping looking all greasy. 🤣 The hair bows remind me of ones that were popular when I was in elementary school. I guess all trends come back eventually.
Well those clips are back, back, back! I can’t scroll through social media today without seeing at least one girl wearing three of them! 😆
I’m usually out of the loop when it comes to brands’ new releases. I’d rather not know unless someone blogs about it because I dont want to feel like “omg I need that!” Every single time I see something. I guess in a way a bit of self control lol. Anyway, that’s the reason I love posts like this because it still keeps me in the loop, by extension, and reading other peoples thoughts on said products convince me not to jump on it either lmao. I think the only one I’ve truly seen was the GoT collection, everything else I’ve never even seen before. The only thing I’d be interested in trying is the hydrating face mask from milk makeup. I love the fact that its infused with cannabis oil and it’s in stick form so that’s amazing! Face masks are my favorite as of lately. 🤗
I’m on Instagram a lot (sad fact), so that’s really where I hear about new launches a lot. I feel like 80% of things that come out I’m not interested in, and thank goodness for that!! Otherwise I’d have no money in the bank (another sad fact). I really want to try more from Milk; I so like their vibe, their packaging, everything. I’m just not a mask person, BUT that being said if I am going to do one it would probably be a stick like this Milk one. Sheet masks are so gloopy and wet, it slightly freaks me out!
Yeah that makes sense half of the things that come out I’m just like “pass”. I try to see if I have said product in my stash already and if I do I dont need it.
I’ve only tried their water stick that I got in a sephora box once and it was really nice and hydrating. Super easy to use, especially during the summer I could just take it out and put it on my skin if I needed it lol.
Eeew this is the first time I’ve seen those beaded hair clips but they are terrifying… I hate the way they look lol. The Avengers collection is actually really pretty MINUS the packaging… & the UD stuff does look way too bulky. I agree that body oil is weird, too. 😛
Ha! I don’t necessarily mind the way the clips look themselves, I just know I’d look awful in them. I agree, the Avengers stuff doesn’t look bad but I’m just bored looking at it! Perhaps if I saw the colors in store I’d feel differently. Body oil = unnecessary 😆.
I have the same issue with hair accessories not holding my hair back because it’s too thick, so I know what you mean!!
I like really girly stuff so that’s probably why I don’t like that Avengers packaging, to be honest. I don’t even think seeing it in real life could sway me. 😛 & yeah, body oil = very unnecessary!!
Agreed!
