Hi friends!
We’re taking another close look at Rare Beauty today in this three-part mini series. I first reviewed the Dewy Lip Balms earlier this week, and now we’re taking a deep-dive into the Soft Pinch Liquid Blushes. You know how much I love a good cream blush, so I was super excited to try this formula out! It retails for $20.00 and comes in a total of 8 shades with half available in a matte formula, and half available in a more dewy, radiant formula. I absolutely love that! I don’t believe there are many matte-textured cream or liquid blushes on the market, so Rare might really be onto something there. (Please correct me if I’m wrong.) I was kindly gifted two shades, one matte and one dewy, which I’ve been testing out for several weeks now.
Let’s get started!

MY THOUGHTS ON PACKAGING
As I said in my earlier review, I think overall Rare Beauty has really nailed the packaging across their line. It’s just so lovely to look at and hold! The Soft Pinch Liquid Blushes come in lightweight, frosted plastic bottles with twist-off tops that have one of those very satisfying clicks. Yup, you know the one. From what I’ve read, the silver circles on top serve a dual purpose. In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, they are meant to be functional for those who suffer from auto-immune diseases that can affect motor skills. (Founder Selena Gomez has lupus, which can cause joint pain amongst a host of other symptoms.)
But back to the functionality. They have slanted doe-foot applicators that are nice and soft, but hold a bit too much product (I’ll get to that more shortly). Personally that doesn’t bother me too much, but if you like your applicators to be completely functional it may be an issue for you.

MY THOUGHTS ON TEXTURE / APPLICATION
These have a thin creamy texture that I much prefer to apply with the warmth of my fingers, rather than dot on directly with the applicator. This is exactly what I do. I take out the applicator, put the excess product back into the bottle, and then deposit a smaller amount onto the back of my hand to work from. I then tap the product onto my cheeks using my middle finger; it works a treat!
I find both the matte and dewy formulas to be very easily blendable on my dry skin. But do keep in mind that the matte formula will dry down, so don’t take forever to blend it out. But overall I’ve had zero issues applying these formulas, and find them to be user-friendly.

MY THOUGHTS ON PIGMENTATION
A little goes a long way here! These are very pigmented blushes that build up quite quickly, which is another reason why I don’t like to use the applicator directly on my skin. I recommend working slowly, and using your finger or perhaps a damp sponge to apply. That being said, they do sheer out nicely as you work with them. If you’ve used the Milani Cheek Kiss Liquid Blush before, it’s a very similar experience.

MY THOUGHTS ON WEAR
If you get annoyed when your blush fades or totally disappears by the middle of the day – I’m right there with you – then you need to get your hands on these Soft Pinch Liquid Blushes! The pigment really lasts throughout the day on both the matte and the dewy formulas. I’ve noticed some fading by the half-way mark, but there’s still a decent amount of color on my cheeks after 10+ hours of wear. (Do keep in mind that I have dry skin. Skin type can always influence the wear of products.)

MY THOUGHTS ON PRICE
The Soft Pinch Liquid Blushes retail for $20.00 each; so, not overly luxurious, but certainly not the most affordable. Personally I don’t mind the price considering the packaging, quality, pigmentation and wear are all totally on-point. Additionally, I love that they offer matte-textured shades in this line, which is a great option for people with more oily skin. I don’t think there’s any similar-type product available at a drugstore price point. (Again, correct me if I’m wrong!)
However, if you do want a more affordable option in a dewy/radiant finish, then I would totally recommend the Milani Cheek Kiss Liquid Blush.

FINAL THOUGHTS
This is by far my favorite product from Rare Beauty! If you’re looking for really user-friendly, heavily pigmented liquid blushes that are available in a variety of colors and finishes, this is it! I love both shades and finishes almost equally, which is really something coming from me (normally I much prefer dewy over matte).
Have you tried the Soft Pinch Liquid Blushes yet? I’d love to know!
xoxo, and be well, Erica
