At the start of every month, I ceremoniously post about five beauty bits from new (or fairly new) launches that I will not be adding to my shopping cart anytime soon. You guys seem to love this style of post, and so do I! (Otherwise I wouldn’t continue writing them, duh.) So if you’re a first time reader, welcome to my beauty anti-wishlist August 2019 edition! I’ve done these for almost a year now, so there’s lots for you to binge if you so desire! I’ve linked the last 4 posts in this series below.
As always, this is not meant as a knock on these brands. These are just products that for one reason or another I personally wouldn’t buy (spoiler: a lot of this month’s list has to do with skin type). So it’s all about personal preference. Let’s get into this month’s list!

FENTY BEAUTY PRO FILT’R MATTIFYING PRIMER
OK, so this one is simply a case of engineering for a different skin type. I think the name says it all – this primer’s purpose is to help mattify combo and oily skin types so makeup sits better on the skin and lasts longer. I don’t have either combo or oily skin, so I would never use a product like this in my routine. My skin is dry (and probably dehydrated) so I need moisture, moisture, moisture all the time, even in the summer.
On a side note – I know Fenty finally came out with a foundation for us dry skin folks (Pro Filt’r Hydrating Longwear Foundation) plus a matching primer! I’m super excited! (It was about time though, right?) This more hydrating duo comes out on Aug. 15th, btw.

URBAN DECAY STAY NAKED WEIGHTLESS FOUNDATION
Another complexion product is up to the plate next, but this is sadly another strikeout for me (bad joke, I know). Again, I think this is a case of just mismatched skin type. While Urban Decay claims this foundation is a medium, buildable, weightless formula that’s second-skin-like, I’m put off by the whole “waterproof” aspect. To me that reads as “mattifying” and that’s usually the last thing I look for in my product choices. It also claims to have 24-hour wear – I don’t see how it wouldn’t be drying on the wrong skin type then. Most bases I buy now tend to be very sheer-to-light coverage with a dewy finish, so this is a pass for me.

SOL BODY SHIMMERING DRY OIL
Sol Body is a sister brand to ColourPop that just debuted. This is another one of the seemingly endless amounts of shimmery body oils that have come out this summer. I know I keep putting them on my beauty anti-wishlists but that’s because brands just keep bringing them out! I’m sorry, I just don’t understand but who buys these kinds of products?? Please comment down below if you have bought or would buy a shimmery body oil. I promise I won’t judge you too harshly 😉. I just wonder if there’s something I’m totally missing…
When you’re on the beach, shouldn’t you be more concerned with protecting your skin from the sun’s rays rather than looking like an Instagram ad? Or when you’re out to eat at night with that low-cut or off-the-shoulder dress, wouldn’t this get all over your lovely clothes? It’s an oil after all. Just don’t get it. Am I alone?

NATASHA DENONA CORAL EYESHADOW PALETTE
This one may be a bit of a shocker to some of you. It’s Natasha Denona, it’s an eyeshadow palette, it’s gorgeous. And yes this new Coral Palette is all those things, but one thing it ain’t to me is necessary. Now to be fair a lot of my beauty purchases aren’t necessary, however the ND mini palette I do have (the mini Lila Palette) I barely use. (To be honest, I found the mattes hard to work with.) So I just couldn’t justify another ND eyeshadow purchase right now. It’s a shame because these colors look b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l! I also love how transitional this palette is from summer to fall with both the pinks and the cranberries.
You get a few different textures in here from mattes, to duo-chromes to metallics so if you are an uber fan of Natasha Denona you may love this. Click here for more info.
TOO FACED BORN THIS WAY POWDER FOUNDATION
It wouldn’t be a beauty anti-wishlist without an appearance from Too Faced, would it? I’ve made it no secret on here that Too Faced hasn’t brought out a swoon-worthy product (in my opinion) in years at this point. (I am a big fan of the Born This Way Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer however.) Here’s another strike for me, but in all fairness I think this is, again, more a consequence of my particular skin type. If you do like or use powder foundations frequently in your routine you may be intrigued by the new Born This Way Powder Foundation. It claims to have buildable, medium-to-full coverage and to blur imperfections. I just have never used or probably will ever use a powder foundation as long as my skin is so dry. No thanks for me!
