Hi friends!
Welcome to the final installment of this month’s Brand Spotlight on Clinique. I’ve talked about cream contour, cream blush, and now let’s discuss mascara. One of my favorite makeup products ever! What’s a common complaint that you often hear about mascara? For me, it’s flaking & smudging particularly under the eyes. Let’s face it, panda eyes are never a good look. Well, I used to have that problem too until I found what I consider to be the best smudge proof mascara – the Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara.

I’ve been using this product for absolute ages, and I stand by it 100%. I use it every single day that I wear makeup, without fail. I’ve worn it in cold weather, in hot weather, and in humid weather with little to no serious smudging or flaking. Can you ever claim a mascara is completely, utterly and totally smudge proof? No, but this is pretty darn close! I’m so glad I discovered it years ago.
(Fun fact: my first ever blog post featured this product. If you want a good laugh go back and check it out, but I’d rather not link it here!)

As the name would suggest, this is a mascara that’s specifically formulated for use on your bottom lashes. It’s a small tube with the tiniest, cutest wand that perfectly coats the delicate lashes under your eyes. Now, I’m not telling you that you absolutely need two mascaras in your life (one for the upper lashes and one for the lower lashes). However if you do have a problem with smudging under your eyes, and you can’t seem to find anything that stays put, you may want to check this guy out.
It’s not expensive at all. In fact it only retails for $12.00, but do note that the tube may start to dry out after about 5 – 6 weeks since the component is so small.
Just FYI – Clinique doesn’t claim this formula to be waterproof or water-resistant. Apparently you can just use warm water to remove it (I still use a makeup remover though). They simply boast of its smudge-resistancy, which we’ve already established I totally agree with.
If you don’t live near a Sephora or Ulta and you’re looking for more options, Pixi does one called Lower Lash Mascara, which you can find stocked at Target in the U.S. It’s a dollar cheaper than the Clinique Bottom Lash, and it claims to be water-resistant. I cannot personally attest to the performance of the Pixi product, however I’m just about to test it out after my Clinique runs out. I’ll make sure to share my thoughts on that when I can!
