Hi friends!
May’s Brand Spotlight on Clinique continues today! If you didn’t read my introductory post a few weeks ago, I’m posting a series of Clinique-centric posts throughout the month. I’ll feature some of my favorite products from the brand and some products that are newer to me. I’ve linked all my earlier posts directly below for your convenience if you’d like to catch up!

Today I’m talking about a product that’s been one of my favorite cream blushes for a few years now – the Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Balm in the shade Amp’d Up Apple. You know I love my Chubby Sticks! They are so convenient and beginner-friendly; you can literally just draw your makeup on, how easy! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve traveled with this little guy in my makeup travel bag. (Just for transparency sake, I’ve been lucky enough to receive the last two of these as part of a gift-with-purchase.)
COLOR
As mentioned, I have the shade Amp’d Up Apple, which shows up as a neutral-to-warm rosy pink on my pale skin. There is the slightest amount of pearl in this shade but you have to look really, really closely to see it. I love this color since it gives my cheeks a nice brightness and perkiness. I believe Clinique only offers this formula in 4 shades.
TEXTURE
As the name would suggest, this blush has a very balmy texture that’s super comfortable to apply to the skin. It’s like if you mixed color pigment with a clear balm or gel. That’s the feeling you get when you rub the product between your fingers. However, it definitely doesn’t stay tacky on the skin; there is some kind of “dry-down.” But it doesn’t make my skin appear or feel dry throughout the day at all.
APPLICATION
This Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Balm glides across the skin with so much ease! I’m telling you, this is a great product for either beginners or for people that aren’t very confident with makeup. You can dot it on with your fingers, like I do, and very easily tap it into your skin with no threat of harsh lines. Most of the time I use my fingers with this product since it’s so quick and easy, but I have been using this duo-fiber brush from Lancome with cream products a lot lately. It blends everything out perfectly, including this product.
WEAR
Since this has a balmy texture that’s super creamy, I wouldn’t say it has the best staying power. Of course wear time will also depend on what your skin type is, but I have dry skin that tends to latch onto makeup pretty well (unless I’m in hot, humid conditions). I find I really need to layer this up for it to stay on my skin throughout the whole day, but when I do I can usually get about 8 to 9 hours wear from it. If you have oily skin or really want to ensure longevity, you can always layer this with a powder blush on top. (In the photos taken here, I had just applied the blush to my cheeks.)
Have you tried any of the Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Balms before? If so, what do you think of them? I’d love to know!

Erica, that’s a lovely color on you 🙂
Thanks Sarah! ❤️
Looks very pretty on you and there is nothing better and easier than stick makeup!
Thank you! I totally agree!
This is such a pretty color!!
Thanks Michelle! It’s so wearable too!
I think people have talked about this chubby stick in the past and everyone loved it. The shade looks really nice on you!
I do have to ask how it applies and wears with liquid foundation versus powder? Have you noticed any difference? Or does it go on better with no foundation? Cause I’m also up for a no foundation look (when my skin is blemish free lol)
Thanks so much! I don’t wear powder foundations, so I definitely can’t attest to how it applies over that. Over liquid foundations, I’ve never had a problem with it moving anything below. But keep in mind, most of the time I am using my fingers to gently pat the color on. I think if you use patting motions, or gently swirling it on with a brush you shouldn’t have a problem!
Ah yeah that makes sense. Might try something like this in the future 🙂
Your cheeks look so cute with this on!!
Aw thank you girl ❤️
What about your lips? Did you apply anything to them too? Beautiful
