My beauty anti-wishlist October 2019

Dragun Beauty Face Palette (exterior) - beauty anti-wishlist October 2019

Hi friends!

Welcome back to the latest edition of my beauty anti-wishlist! If you’re new around here, every month I gather up five newish or upcoming product releases that just don’t inspire me to get my wallet out. And then I tell you why. Simple, simple.

Of course, please keep in mind this is all based on personal preferences. I have not seen nor tried these products before IRL, but based on what I’ve read or seen on social media they just ain’t cutting it in my book.

I’ve linked a few of my previous lists down below for you, so if you like this kind of thing I’ve got lots more where that came from!

Without further delay, here’s my beauty anti-wishlist October 2019 edition!

KAT VON D LOLITA POR VIDA EYESHADOW PALETTE

I know, I know that anything Kat Von D-related rubs a lot of people the wrong way, plus lots of consumers have stopped buying her products all together. (Not sure what I’m talking about? Click here.) But I’m stripping back the controversy in this case and just focusing on the product itself.

The Lolita Por Vida Palette launches later this week on the 11th, and in all honesty it looks like a gorgeously wearable palette; perfect for this time of year. You’ve got your warm browns, your cranberries, your pumpkins, a peach, a purple, some glitter & foil. But there’s just less and less physical space in my collection these days for these big 10+ / 12+ eyeshadow palettes. I just can’t do it.

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS X CARLI BYBEL EYESHADOW PALETTE

Source: ABH Instagram

Wow ABH really seems to crank out the palettes these days, am I right? Gone are the days of basking in the gorgeous gloriousness that was the Renaissance Palette, and hello to this “putting-out-palettes-almost-as-fast-as-ColourPop” nonsense. So here’s another influencer collab in the form of the ABH x Carli Bybel Eyeshadow Palette, right on the heels of their Jackie Aina palette. The colors look pretty enough but…yawn, I just don’t care. I get that the fall/winter season is probably the biggest for sales, but I’d love to feel that ABH cares more about their product launches. Give them time to grow, why don’t you?

This palette launches today on ABH’s website, but I believe it will be in-stores on the 10th. If you’re interested in more on this palette, check out this Allure article.

HAUS LABORATORIES (IN GENERAL)

Source: Haus Labs Instagram

I’m sorry, but all the products from Haus Laboratories – Lady Gaga’s new beauty brand – just seem so…boring. Does anyone else feel that way too? (Right now the line-up includes liquid eyeshadows, lip liners, lip glosses, eyeliners and some face stickers; I’m sure there’s much more to come.) Maybe it’s the uninspiring packaging. Or the fact that I expected something more attention-grabbing from someone as unique as Gaga. I don’t know. I thought about writing up something on the launch of Haus Labs during my month of beauty news in September, but again I just wasn’t inspired by the idea.

Perhaps I’d feel differently if I saw and felt the products, but since this is an Amazon exclusive brand I’m assuming that won’t be likely to happen anytime soon (?).

DRAGUN BEAUTY FACE PALETTE

If you’re not familiar with influencer Nikita Dragun, this is her new namesake beauty brand. The featured image at the top of this blog post is actually the exterior of the Dragun Beauty Face Palette, which launches today; it’s a 3D illustration of Nikita’s face. Um, do you find it creepy too?? Cause I certainly do! First strike for me. Looking inside the palette, you get two contour shades, two blushes, and two highlighters all in powder textures. Ehhh, I don’t find anything particularly interesting here and to be honest, I’m not the biggest fan of face palettes anyway. Second strike. Plus how would you store the palette securely with that 3D exterior?? Third strike.

BENEFIT COSMETICS BROW STYLER

Source: Benefit Instagram

You guys probably know by now that I’m a ride-or-die brow gel girl. All I wanna do is just brush a bit of something through them that will give me volume and hold. But then I wanna get on with my day. This dual-ended Brow Styler is Benefit’s newest brow release; one side has a nib containing powder, while the other has one of those slanted waxy pencils. I said goodbye to brow pencils a while back, and I often find those powder nibs to be really messy. (Have you ever experienced fall-down from your brows? I have!) So on a practical level this just isn’t for me.

It does claim 18-hour, waterproof wear which is great, but for $34.00? That’s quite pricey for a brow product, Benefit! If you’re interested in more on this product, check out their website.

What is on your beauty anti-wishlist this month? I’d love to know!

xo, Erica
