My beauty anti-wishlist February 2020

Hi friends!

I’ve talked a lot about exciting new launches in the last month (see: new drugstore releases; see: more Pillow Talk products), so it’s time now to talk about five beauty launches that I’m not so keen on. It’s my beauty anti-wishlist February 2020 edition! If you’re new to the blog, this is a monthly series where I talk about new or upcoming beauty launches that won’t be making it into either my virtual or physical cart.

Obviously I have not tried any of these products before, so I realize it is a bit like judging a book by its cover. But hey, we all do that from time to time; it’s allowed! Of course, no disrespect is intended and if you are excited for any of these launches, that’s awesome. I’d love to know why too, so tell me in the comments!

If you like this kind of thing, you can catch up on my previous few lists below:

January / December / November / October

So without further delay, let’s get into my beauty anti-wishlist February 2020 list!

BH COSMETICS TRUFFLE BLUSH COLLECTION

BH Cosmetics just came out with these adorable scented blush palettes in a total of 9 different color stories. Even though I loveeee blush very deeply, and I do think BH Cosmetics produces some bomb makeup, I just don’t tend to reach for blush palettes. I had a limited-edition blush palette a few years back from Benefit, and while I really liked customizing my colors, I ended up having to declutter it because it just wasn’t getting the necessary amount of love from me. I’m definitely more partial to cream blushes for a start (these are powders). Plus with palettes, I feel “obligated” in a way to use every color in order to justify the purchase. I’d rather buy singles of colors that I really, really want, you know? So these are a pass for me.

JEFFREE STAR COSMETICS BLOOD LUST EYESHADOW PALETTE

I’m sure the whole makeup-loving world knows that the new Jeffree Star Cosmetics collection drops today. The Blood Lust Collection includes an eyeshadow palette, lip glosses, a bundle of liquid lips, a highlighter and merch, but of course everyone will be focusing on the 18-pan palette. There was red with the Blood Sugar Palette, blue with the Blue Blood Palette, and now purple with the Blood Lust Palette. There are a variety of finishes in the palette including matte, shimmer, and a brand-new formula that is described as very “wet-looking.” Honestly I just don’t go for purple shadows, like at all. I find them super hard to use and all too obvious on the eye for my taste. Also, Jeffree’s palettes are more like collector’s items with seriously over-the-top packaging (this is hexogon-shaped and covered in velvet). I’m definitely a less-is-more kinda gal with my packaging, so this is a pass for me.

BITE BEAUTY CHANGEMAKER COMPLEXION SYSTEM

Bite Beauty
recently expanded beyond lips with the debut of their whole Changemaker Complexion System, which consists of primer (either hydrating and mattifying), foundation (buildable medium coverage) and pressed powder. I’ve heard mixed reviews to be fair, but I definitely will refrain from this launch (or any launch from Bite). Years ago I fell in love with the famous Agave Lip Mask, but after several months of use it nearly killed my lips! I got a horrible allergic reaction that made my lips swell and blister to three times their normal size. It was awful and easily the worst allergy I’ve ever experienced. It’s put me off the brand ever since sadly.

GLOW RECIPE WATERMELON GLOW LIP POP

I’ve never tried anything from Glow Recipe yet – I’m curious to try something one day – but I’m afraid this Watermelon Glow Lip Pop isn’t it. Granted it’s multi-purpose and I usually love multi-purpose products; it’s a no-rinse, scrub-to-balm product that also gives your lips a bit of color. But I just don’t believe in spending more than $10-$15 on lip care on principle. (This is $22.00 for reference.) The packaging and marketing are very, very cute without a doubt, but it almost looks like it’s made for kids. Am I wrong?

WISHFUL YO GLOW ENZYME SCRUB

So Huda Kattan of Huda Beauty fame just debuted a new skincare brand called Wishful. The Yo Glow Enzyme Scrub is the inaugural launch, and it’s a chemical exfoliator that promises to also hydrate and provide radiance to the skin. I have to say, while this product sounds really nice, I’m just not excited by it. I’ve never been one for a facial scrub, and as is, I fall in and out of love with exfoliation. I’m definitely not about to splash out nearly $40.00 for a product that I may barely use.

What’s on your beauty anti-wishlist this month?? I’d love to know!
