Hi friends!
All throughout the month of June we’re talking about summer beauty must-haves here on the blog. Today’s post is all about the best sweat-proof makeup products for this hot & sticky time of year, in my humble opinion. As you may already know if you’re a long-time reader, I’m more partial to cream products on my skin so this list more heavily favors those textures. Some people prefer powders much more, but it really all depends on skin type and what kind of look you want to achieve.

Speaking of skin type – I’ll just insert a quick disclaimer right here. All of the products I’ve listed in this post are sweat-proof and long-wear on my dry skin. If you have a different skin type, you may not have the same experience as me with these products. To be honest, you likely have different product needs than I do altogether, so please keep that in mind. For example, I didn’t include a face powder here but if you’re oily or combo you may absolutely need one.
My best tip for getting products to last throughout the long, hot & sweaty day is…put less of them on, frankly. If you work in thin layers and slowly build up your base, shadow, blush, etc in just the targeted areas that you need it, you’ll find the staying power is better than when you apply one thick layer of product all over.
Now onto the best sweat-proof makeup products for summer!
BEST SWEAT-PROOF BASE PRODUCTS

Left: Too Faced Born This Way Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer. Right: NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer.
In the summer I love an easy-peasy base! So that means spot-concealing just where I need it, with either no foundation or just a simple tinted moisturizer underneath. Tinted moisturizers don’t tend to be too long-wearing in the heat so I haven’t included them here. (But there will be a post later this week about my go-to glowy base featuring a tinted moisturizer!)
The Too Faced Born This Way Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer is a tried & tested hot weather/sweat-proof concealer for me. I wore it throughout the summer of 2018 on hot days in NYC. While it may not look fresh as a daisy 10 hours later after subway rides and hustling around, there is still coverage there. That’s impressive to me. Big thumbs up!
The NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer may not be long-wear and sweat-proof for everyone (maybe not on oily skin types), but the coverage lasts upwards of 10 hours for me. Another thumbs up!
If you have problematic skin and can’t go without a true foundation even in the summer, I’d recommend the original old-school Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Makeup. It’s very heavy-duty both in terms of coverage and staying powder, so I recommend using some kind of hydrating primer or moisturizer underneath. BEST SWEAT-PROOF BRONZER

Fenty Beauty Sun Stalk’r Bronzer in Shady Biz
This is a relatively recent launch for Fenty, but the new Sun Stalk’r Bronzers are just top-notch stuff! I compared its formula to the well-loved Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer in a recent post, and the Fenty just inched it out with the staying power. You don’t have to pack on layer upon layer to get the full effect, nor do you have to over-apply to get good staying power. After a full day’s wear, this bronzer is still clinging on in the best way possible! The shade pictured here is Shady Biz.

BEST SWEAT-PROOF BLUSHES

Left: Kiko Velvet Touch Stick Blush in Golden Peach. Right: Glossier Cloud Paint in Dusk.
Kiko is a solid Italian beauty line with affordable prices. I’ve talked about their products off and on since the beginning of my blog. In the U.S. you can order their products from kikocosmetics.com. Their Velvet Touch Creamy Stick Blushes are another tried & tested long-wear/hot weather favorite. I took this shade Golden Peach away with me to Austin, Texas back in April where it was quite hot everyday. I was so surprised that there was very little fading at the end of the day. I was out and about in the warmth and wind everyday, yet I could still see a lot of pigment and shine on my cheeks.
I’ve talked about the Glossier Cloud Paint in Dusk a lot on here already so I won’t dwell for long, but this product lasts deceptively well on me after many hours of wear. It has a really creamy texture so you would think it would just slide or sweat off your skin really easily. Nope. Provided that you take the time to layer it up a bit, you’d be surprised how well it lasts. I think the formula grips the skin really well.

A SWEAT-PROOF MASCARA

COL-LAB The Works Wow Effect All-In-One Waterproof Mascara
Honestly I’m not sure if this the best waterproof mascara, but it’s the one I’m using right now and it works! Most mascara formulas last quite well on me despite the season, so most of the time I just use regular formulas. I find waterproof mascaras a bit too difficult to take off at the end of the day, and then you wake up with little panda eyes the next morning. But regardless, every now and then I’ll still buy waterproof. And I know a lot of people who absolutely have to wear waterproof formulas all year round, so I wanted to include one here.
I’m currently using the COL-LAB The Works Wow Effect All-in-One Waterproof Mascara, which builds up volume & length quite nicely quite quickly. And it doesn’t budge or go anywhere. Take it from me, who struggles to get it off at night! I would just caution you to really take off all the excess product from the brush before applying to your eyelashes.

BEST SWEAT-PROOF EYESHADOWS

Clockwise: L’Oreal Infallible 24HR Eye Shadow in Bronzed Taupe, Maybelline Color Tattoo 24HR Cream Eyeshadow in Creamy Beige, Laura Mercier Cavier Stick, Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick.
I’ve talked about my love for these eyeshadows on and off since I started writing my blog. And just FYI – there are a lot more long-wearing cream or liquid shadows out there; these are just a few of my very favorites. Those with oily eyelids may want to use a primer underneath these to get the most wear. I just apply them over bare eyelids.
Both the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow Sticks and the Laura Mercier Cavier Sticks are really similar in terms of application and wear. Very easy to use and apply, and generally last without creasing for about 8 hours. If you really want to ensure maximum wear, just pop a powder shadow over them!
The L’Oreal Infallible 24 HR Eye Shadows have been a big fave of mine since they launched years ago. They are waterproof pressed powders that are creamy, easy to apply and last for ages on the eyelids without extensive wear. The shade pictured above is Bronzed Taupe.
Lastly, my beloved Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 HR Cream Eyeshadows! Absolutely love, love these and stand by them 100%. These guys don’t budge or go anywhere, even after hours and hours of wear. This is also a waterproof formula that I usually crack out when I know I’ll have a really long day, or will be traveling. The shade pictured above is Creamy Beige.

Top to bottom: Bobbi Brown Shadow in Nude Beach, Laura Mercier Shadow in Caramel, Maybelline Shadow in Creamy Beige, L’Oreal Shadow in Bronzed Taupe, Fenty Beauty Bronzer in Shady Biz, Kiko Blush in Golden Peach, Glossier Blush in Dusk.
And an honorable mention for BROWS goes to the Maybelline Tattoo Studio Eyebrow Gel. I used this for a few months last year, and while the packaging wasn’t my favorite the product itself was very long-wearing. This is another waterproof formula, so if you struggle to keep your brow color on during the summer perhaps you should check this out. Just make sure you remove all the excess product from the applicator first! It gets way too loaded with product.

Thank you for this! 😀 I have oilier skin in the summer so I’ll definitely have to try the face powder. I still haven’t gotten a blush stick yet and you’re reminding me that I need to go shopping asap!
You’re so welcome, thanks for reading as always! It took ages to put this list together. If you’re looking for a face powder, I really like the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder (I use it mostly under my eyes to set concealer). Stick blushes are so good! There’s so many on the market now too!
Thank you for the suggestion! 😀
😉
Those eye shades all look so pretty! 🙂
They are! They’re such great everyday shades, my favorite kind 😉
Great blog Erica! Sounds silly but when it’s hot, I tend to wear less make up…. but really I should invest, and remember that there are waterproof and long lasting products for summer. Silly me! I’ll have to get my hands on the Fenty bronzer!
I hear you! When it’s super hot out, I tend not to wear much either, although I usually wear a bit of something most days (unless I’m sick or going to the beach or something). The Fenty bronzer is so good, you’ll love it!
I feel like EVERYONE talks about that TF foundation and the NARS concealer all the time. Not just for summer. Might have to be the next products I try.
Now that I think about it, cream blushes might be the best way to go since powders might dry out your face more. However I guess it all depends on skin type too and how oily one gets.
Great post and lots of good products here to look into. Thanks! ✌🏼
Thanks so much for reading girl! I know both those concealers get a lot of good attention, but I do think it’s for good reason! They just cover and stay put on me without much caking up or flaking away. However, I do apply very light layers of the stuff, so that probably helps!
Cream blushes are lovely if you like color to look very natural and skin-like. I have been getting into powder blushes again lately, so I still like powders too. But I think I’ll always defer to creams.
I’m not big on applying thick layers of product either, it seems wasteful and it does cake up anyway lol
yeah totally! I have too many powders so a cream one would be nice to switch it up every once in a while
Need to try that NARS concealer. It might just be my next purchase! I am dying to try the Fenty bronzer, too!
They are both awesome products, but the NARS concealer is a total must in my book!
Def gonna try it soon since my concealer is nearly all gone!! Thanks for the rec. 😀 <3
No problem! 😉
