Yellow eyeshadow look | Capsule Makeup Series

Hi friends!

Welcome to the second installment of my Capsule Makeup Series! For the first installment last week, I did an easy everyday look that I’ll link here in case you missed it. To read a bit more about the concept behind this series, and about the products I’ll be using throughout, make sure to read my introductory post here.

We’re starting to get more colorful now, since the color story in the Juvia’s Place Saharan Palette is so vibrant and fun. I’ve been seeing a lot of yellow eyeshadow looks on Instagram and YouTube lately, so I got very inspired to do something with the amazing shade Wodaabe, a metallic yellow. Now you might be thinking, yellow eyeshadow?? Yellow, metallic eyeshadow?? I know, I know, it sounds a bit terrifying. But actually it turned out really well, and surprisingly wearable. Trust me!

YELLOW EYESHADOW LOOK & HOW I ACHIEVED IT 

STEP ONE – EYES

I used a small amount of the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer on my lids as an eye primer first. I then patted the shade Wodaabe onto my eyelids with a flat brush, and blended it into my crease. I continued to take the shade up above my crease, nearly up to my brow. Stay with me 😉.

I then coated my lashes, both the upper and lower, with the Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara.

STEP TWO – FACE

(As an aside, I used the Clinique Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate as a primer to give my skin some hydration and slip.)

I applied the Radiant Creamy Concealer under my eyes, around my nose and on my chin. I then patted in all the product using stippling and blending motions with my fingers.

STEP THREE – BLUSH 

I mixed roughly equal amounts of the Glossier Cloud Paint in Dusk (a neutral peachy brown), and the matte lipstick side from the Flower Beauty Mix n’ Matte Lip Duo in Honey Nude (a nude pink) together on the back of my hand. This created a custom color that was somewhere between the two shades. I then patted it into my cheeks, and blended it out with my fingers.

STEP FOUR – BROWS 

I took a tiny amount of the matte brown shade Katsina from The Saharan Palette, and filled in little gaps in my brows. I then ran the & Other Stories Eyebrow Gel (which is clear) through my brows to groom them and set them in place.

STEP FIVE – LIPS 

I took the same mixture I made for my cheeks with the Glossier & Flower Beauty products, and patted a light layer over my lips. I love matching cheeks to lips!

 

Voila! A quick, one-shadow look that keeps all the focus on the brightness of the eyes, with the rest of the makeup pared down. I hope you like how it came out as much as I do!
