Hi friends!
It’s review time again! I picked up the L’Absolu Lacquer from Lancôme about two months ago now after I got my makeup done by an artist from the brand. I told her that I wanted a lip color that was “MLBB” (my-lips-but-better), and she applied 274 Beige Sensation on me. I looked in the mirror and absolutely loved it! Needless to say when it came time to decide afterward what I wanted to purchase, Beige Sensation went right in my basket.
I’ve been using this on and off since April, so I’m definitely ready to bring you my unfiltered thoughts. So let’s get into my Lancôme L’Absolu Lacquer review!
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Buildable longwear, high shine lipcolor that feels ultra lightweight and hydrating on lips.
This innovative lip lacquer combines the comfort and shine of a gloss, the pigment of a lipstick and the lasting power of a stain. Our innovative oil in water emulsion is lightweight and non-sticky, providing up to 6H of wear. Enriched with glycerin, lips feel hydrated throughout the day. The high shine finish and vivid color payoff are buildable from sheer to full coverage in 1-2-3 coats.
MY THOUGHTS ON PACKAGING
As you would expect from a premier brand such as Lancôme, the packaging is lovely. A hard plastic ombre tube that’s sleek, surprisingly lightweight and very easy to throw in your bag. When you screw and unscrew the applicator there’s a very pleasing little click, so you know the product is nice and airtight. There’s absolutely no messiness about it.

MY THOUGHTS ON APPLICATION
Firstly, the applicator. It’s quite long, tapered and flexible which makes it easy to maneuver around the contours of your lips. However, I do find that it’s a bit tricky sometimes to get in the very corners of my mouth with such a long, bendy applicator.
Secondly, the actual product. It’s extremely smooth, so it just glides right onto your lips with almost no tugging. You get a lot of shine and pigment straight away, so you don’t have to dip back into the tube too many times. There’s a bit of a scent to this formula which you can actually taste right after application (it doesn’t last all day though). It’s not the most pleasant and frankly I wish it wasn’t there altogether.

MY THOUGHTS ON COLOR
I think I already established that the color is just so up my alley! A pinky-brown? Why yes please! If you’re into shades that mimic natural lip colors, you may love 274 Beige Sensation. Online it looks much more brown/beige, but in real life there’s definitely an equal amount of pink in there.

MY THOUGHTS ON FINISH
Right after application, this has the same finish as a really pigmented lip gloss – shiny and hydrating. I definitely wouldn’t say this is a sticky formula but there is a slight amount of tackiness that lasts until you drink or eat something for the first time. This doesn’t bother me personally, but it might bother some of you. Overall, it has a pretty comfy finish and feel. No dryness at all.

MY THOUGHTS ON WEAR
This is definitely a lip gloss/lip stain hybrid kinda product. As the glossiness and shine wears away with eating, drinking or lots of talking, you are left with this cool blotted-down color. Sometimes the glossiness lasts almost throughout the entire day, but I’ve had other experiences where the shine wears off after one meal. I think it really depends on what you’ve drank or eaten and how you’ve consumed it (i.e. food with lots of oil, eating with a fork vs. not using a fork).
That being said, there is always some color left on my lips at the end of the day. I’ve probably worn this upwards of 8 – 10 hours at a stretch. Lancôme claims solid wear of 6 hours, and I would say the formula probably outperforms that overall! I’ve been very impressed with the longevity of this product.

MY THOUGHTS ON PRICE
It’s Lancôme, it’s just not going to be “affordable”, is it? The L’Absolu Lacquers retail for $26.00; you get 8 mL of product. Let’s quickly compare to other luxury lip lacquers to get a gauge on things. The Marc Jacobs Hi Shine Gloss Lip Lacquer is $28.00 for only 5 mL of product (less product for more money!). The Charlotte Tilbury Lip Lustre Lip Gloss is $22.00 for only 3.5 mL of product (less product for less money but more $$ per gram I’m sure!). When you step back and survey the market on lip lacquers, Lancôme ain’t so bad!
I personally don’t have a problem with the price tag since I’ve really enjoyed the experience I’ve had so far with this product. I don’t mind splurging when it comes to comfy, long-lasting color, but of course you may not feel the same way. We all have different preferences and budgets, so just decide what’s right for you.

FINAL THOUGHTS
If you’re in the market for a comfortable lip product with the shine of a gloss but the staying power of a lip stain, go check out the Lancôme L’Absolu Lacquers. They come in a ton of colors, so there’s likely something for everyone.
Have you guys tried this lip product before? If so, what did you think? Is there a drugstore equivalent for less cash out there? I’d love to know!

This shade is so beautiful! It almost looks like you aren’t even wearing any product on your lips, it’s a perfect your lips but better shade! I also love the glossy/satin finish for Summer x
Yep, it’s just like my lip color but only shinier so the maintenance level is like zero. Total dream scenario!
That sounds absolutely perfect!

Erica, that is a great color on you! It looks like a great warm tone you could wear into autumn.
Thanks so much Sarah! Oh yea, it could totally be worn whenever since it’s so close to my natural lip tone.
The color is perfect with your complexion and looks fab with the color eyeshadow you have on….very pretty!
Thank you! I love a good your-lips-but-better shade!
Oh I know what you mean about that click when you screw the cap it on, it really is so pleasantly satisfying. 🙂 I hate the weird taste some lippies leave but glad to know this one fades eventually. I LOVE the shade on you!! <3
There’s nothing better than a satisfying ‘click’ isn’t there? Thanks so much Hunida! ❤️
