Hi friends!
You know I love a good drugstore mascara, so when L’Oreal debuted their new Bambi Eye Mascara I was intrigued for two reasons. Firstly, I’ve had a pretty good track record with L’Oreal mascaras in the past (see: the sadly discontinued Butterfly Sculpt, or the Voluminous X-Fiber.) Secondly, Mimi from Blushy Darling gave it really high marks on her blog and I trust her judgement (go check her out, she’s amazing!). Needless to say when I saw the new display in CVS, I snatched it up. The name here really says it all – it promises the dramatic, doe-eyed kinda look that I constantly seek out in mascaras. But does it actually deliver?? Well, I’ve been testing it out for the past few weeks and I’m ready to get into the nitty-gritty now!

MY THOUGHTS ON PACKAGING
Definitely nothing interesting here, but does anyone really buy drugstore beauty for the gorgeous packaging? I think not. It has extremely lightweight, but kinda cheap plastic packaging that I believe is supposed to be ergonomic in design (i.e. it widens in the middle where you grip the component). But considering the price, it’s in no way offensive to me. Just don’t expect anything spectacular.

MY THOUGHTS ON APPLICATION AND BRUSH
This formula applies very easily without much clumpiness or stickiness to the lashes. It’s very black and quite buildable as well so you can customize the effect you get, which is nice. The plastic brush has a shape very similar to the outside packaging, where it widens in the middle and tapers at the ends. The bristles are quite short so they really grip onto the lashes quite well. It also holds just the right amount of product so you don’t need to wipe off any excess, which is a big plus in my book!

MY THOUGHTS ON VOLUME AND CURL
On first coat I’d say this isn’t the most volumizing formula I’ve used. However when you build it up to two coats, you definitely get some serious volume from the L’Oreal Bambi Eye Mascara. Now, about the curling claims. A lot of mascaras claim that they help curl your lashes, but honestly I’ve never really noticed a difference in that department with my lashes – and this mascara is no exception. I think you have to physically curl your lashes first to get that kind of effect, and that’s something I’ve never done ever (and don’t really want to do).

MY THOUGHTS ON LENGTH AND THE “OPEN-EYED” EFFECT
This is where I think the formula really shines! It’s very defining and catches all my lashes so they look very fanned out and lengthened without much effort. I really suggest building up two coats here to get the best effect: great length, volume and definition.
RATING: 5 / 5 ⭐️
MY THOUGHTS ON WEAR
I haven’t noticed much flaking or smudging with this mascara throughout the day, so overall I’d say it wears quite well. The only suggestion I’d make is to use a good quality cleanser or makeup remover to fully remove this mascara, like the CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser. My trusty Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes definitely don’t do the job well enough here.

MY THOUGHTS ON PRICE
This mascara is listed for only $10.99 at Ulta, but you can get it for a bit cheaper at retailers like Target. It’s totally a steal! Definitely worth it for the quality and effect you get.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Well, L’Oreal has done it again – I really, really like this mascara if you couldn’t already tell! I like how buildable it is, and that it delivers on my “holy trinity” of mascara desires (volume, length, separation). It’s also totally budget-friendly so you really can’t go wrong here.
Have you tried the L’Oreal Bambi Eye Mascara yet? If so, what do you think? I’d love to know!

I’m so happy you loved it too! It looks incredible on you ♥️
Thanks babe! ❤️😘
I saw a commercial for this the other day and my first thought was, “I hope Erica does a review on this!” 😂 Since you gave it such a good review now I don’t mind spending money on it. 😉
Ah, how funny! It’s a great option; if you try it out, let me know!
I haven’t heard about this mascara until your review! It looks very pretty on your lashes, I’ve got a few mascaras to get through but I might add this to my ‘to try’ list 😀 Did you try Lash Paradise, how do you find it in comparison to that?
Thanks so much! I have tried the Lash Paradise; it was right after it launched and I remember not being wowed by it like everyone else was. I think because it made my eyelashes stick together. This one definitely doesn’t do that!
I enjoy Lash Paradise but the version in the pink tube not the rose gold tube 🙂
Oh wow, I didn’t know there were two versions of Lash Paradise! What is the difference? I think I tried the pink one…
I think the US version has slightly different ingredients to the European/Pacific version. I’ve tried both version and found the US one to apply better on my lashes and I got more time out of the mascara, the other one seemed to dry up fast.
OK interesting. Now I seem to remember that the version outside the U.S. had different packaging. It sounds like they also had different formulas too (?). It was a “like” from me, but definitely not a “love.”
That mascara wand looks really nice. A pet peeve of mine when it comes to mascaras is having to wipe off the excess off it.
It’s so great that this mascara worked for you, it does look great on you!
Great review!
Thanks girl! Oh, I hate that. I feel I’m wasting so much product!
