Hi friends!
Do you remember the first makeup brand you fell in love with, or experimented with? For me, I’m pretty sure it was good ‘ole MAC Cosmetics. This was way before any social media existed, before the market was absolutely flooded with new brands popping up here, there and everywhere. Back then MAC was just the coolest! Their counters reverberated with loud music and were often staffed by boys in makeup. To me they had the best colors around.
It was also a brand synonymous with professional makeup artistry, which was really cool to me at the time (and still is). I recently stumbled upon an older YouTube video featuring Terry Barber, MAC’s Director of Makeup Artistry, where he spoke about his overall beauty philosophy and about how to achieve great skin. It’s a very inspiring watch that I’ll link here.
Today, I still love MAC and I use their products everyday I wear makeup. But I feel, like a lot of the retail-based brands, they’ve gotten a bit lost in the shuffle these days amongst the Glossiers and ColourPops of the world. Well, that’s why I’ve decided to do my first ever Brand Spotlight on MAC. They will always remind me of my very own makeup history.
So throughout the month of April, I’ll share with you some of my perhaps lesser-known favorites or the unsung heroes from the brand in a series of three posts. So make sure to check back every Wednesday for a new MAC-related post. I’m definitely excited to talk about all things MAC with you guys!
If you’re interested in more related posts on the brand, I’ve written a few already which I’ll link below.
- MAC Uninterrupted eyeshadow, a rediscovery!
- Glowy makeup primers – my picks!
- Tour my pink eyeshadow collection
I hope you’ll all enjoy my Brand Spotlight on MAC this month. I’d love to know if you’ve ever tried anything from this brand, or if you have your own favorite products from them. Let me know in the comments!
xo, Erica
PIN IT!
Erica Mac is one of the best brand you can have. What is number of that Lipstick in the picture please? I love your researched based prodcut reviews, always the best
I agree! That lipstick is Twig, it’s a gorgeous creamy pink. I used to have a few more lipsticks from MAC but they all got old so I had to declutter them last year.
Nice selection!
Thanks Diane!
MAC was the first makeup I ever used, too. My mom used it so I’d sneak hers. 😀
I think it was a lot of people’s first brand too. So many people I know in my personal life have said the same thing!
I used to love MAC before I started buying only cruelty-free products. It’s been like 5 years and I still haven’t found a better lipstick formula nor a better setting spray than theirs.
MAC lipsticks are awesome. I think I might be allergic to Fix + so I don’t use it, but it is a beautiful spray. I wish MAC would become certified cruelty-free. That would be amazing! Although I’m not sure if you’ve read but China just lifted their animal-testing mandate for cosmetics which is big news! So perhaps they will become cruelty-free after all. Let’s hope.
AW NO, I’m sorry you’re allergic to the Fix+!! I hadn’t heard about China lifting their animal testing mandate. That really is amazing news!!! Thanks for letting me know!! <3
I think it’s going to definitely have a ripple effect in the beauty community (a good one)!
THIS IS SO EXCITING!
