Who else feels the pressure when they go to pick out a new foundation…and you just don’t even know where to start? To color match your foundation correctly is one of the more intimidating challenges we face as we walk into any Ulta, Sephora, department store or drugstore. I actually wrote a very early blog post about this particular subject that has a lot of handy tips about undertone, etc if you’re interested to read that.
However, if you’re looking to 100% eliminate any guesswork that’s involved in this process you may want to look towards Lancôme. I got the really fun opportunity last month through Blushup to experience Lancôme’s Le Teint Particulier, which is a custom-made foundation that is expertly matched to your unique skin tone using a digital color meter. After you’ve been matched, the foundation is mixed right in front of you!

Now it was time for the mixing! The Color Expert placed a tall plastic tube into the color-mixing machine and then sent my order through. A blend of red, yellow, black and white pigments started mixing along with some hydrating ingredients to create my perfect foundation. After a few moments it was time for the final test to check if the color and texture suited me. The Color Expert pulled out some of the mixture and generously swatched the product on the side of my face. Voila, it just disappeared into my skin! No harsh lines, no oxidization, just perfect color.

Just a warning, this isn’t what I would necessarily call “affordable” by any means (>$80.00 a mixing). So you will need to take that into consideration before potentially booking your appointment.
