My speedy skincare routine for dry skin

Skincare routine featuring Garnier Micellar Water, Clinique Moisture Surge Supercharged Concentrate, Fresh Beauty Rose Hydrating Gel Eye Cream, & Belif True Cream Moisturizing Bomb

Hi friends!

Today I’m sharing my fast and speedy skincare routine for dry skin that consists of only 4 simple steps. I haven’t exactly timed myself doing this routine, but I can assure you this doesn’t take me longer than 5 minutes or so. Who wants to spend ages in front of the mirror? We’re all busy, let’s keep it snappy!

A couple of things to note. Considering I have dry skin (it’s probably dehydrated too), my whole routine is geared towards providing as much hydration as possible.

I do this routine at night – after my shower and right before bed – so my skin is ready to receive all the benefits these products have to offer. I don’t have a daytime or morning skincare routine right now. But if my skin is looking particularly dry or dull in the morning, I will slap a little moisturizer on right before I do my makeup.

STEP ONE – CLEANSING & EXFOLIATING

I take a cotton pad with one soft side and one textured side, and soak it sufficiently with the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. I run this all over my face to get off any last scraps of makeup that might still be clinging on for dear life (mainly mascara flakes, etc). I then turn over to the textured side of the pad and very lightly rub it across my skin (everywhere except my eyes) to gently lift and remove any dead skin.

I love this stuff and have gone through countless bottles over the years. You get a whopping 400 ml for less than $10.00 too!

STEP TWO – EYE CREAM

I initially bought the Rose Hydrating Eye Gel Cream because I wanted to try a more luxury eye cream. I’ve been using a drugstore cream from Garnier for years. But when I found myself in Blue Mercury last year in the Fresh Beauty section, I grabbed this guy.

This is a very rich gel cream, so you only need just a small amount to drench your eye area. I usually dab 2 to 3 little dots under my eyes, one dab onto my lid, and then gently massage it into my skin. It’s got a luxuriously smooth texture, and the smell is delicious! It has a moderately strong rose scent that takes a little getting used to. If you hate scents, you may not like this.

While I do very much enjoy the experience of using this product, I probably won’t repurchase it. It’s quite expensive (< $40) and I don’t notice much difference at all in my skin in comparison to the cheaper Garnier cream.

STEP THREE – SERUM

I’ve been a long-time fan of the Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate, and of the entire Moisture Surge range from Clinique. This is not a serum per se, but I definitely use it in the place of one. It’s just a really hydrating and smoothing gel that’s not too thick, yet not too thin. I pump a generous pea-sized amount of this on the back of my hand, and dot it all over my face.

It sinks rather quickly into the skin and doesn’t leave much tackiness. Since I aim for maximum hydration in my routine, I do follow this up with a traditional moisturizer as you’ll see next. But if your skin isn’t so dry, this may perhaps be enough moisture for you.

Fun fact: I used this as a primer all throughout my Capsule Makeup Series.

STEP FOUR – MOISTURIZER

Last step and then time for bed! I love The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb from Belif, which I discovered last year thanks to my Sephora points. I quickly went through two mini’s plus one mini of the Aqua Bomb (which is more of a gel consistency for less dry skin types). It has a moderately thick consistency, and the freshest smell. I can’t put my finger on what it is, but it’s in no way offensive.

I take a generous amount of this cream, dot it around my face to get an even distribution, and then massage it into my skin. Done and done! After this routine, my skin feels smooth, supple and sufficiently moisturized.
