Review: Peach & Lily Pure Beam Luxe Oil

Peach & Lily Pure Beam Luxe Oil

Hi friends!

We’re talking about some skincare today, more specifically face oils. About a month or so back, I finally put to rest my bottle of The Ordinary Virgin Chia Seed Oil which I had on the go for far too long. Even though I loved that oil, instead of repurchasing I decided to shake things up a bit with something totally new (to me). I’ve wanted to try some skincare from K-beauty brand Peach & Lily for ages now as they usually get consistent good marks from customers. Initially I had my eye on their much-lauded Glass Skin Refining Serum, but as I wasn’t in the market for a serum at the time I did the honorable thing and passed it up (for now). I next landed on their Pure Beam Luxe Oil, and decided, yes I want that! So I’ve been giving it a go for several weeks now, and I’m ready to give you my full review.

Let’s get started!

WHAT IS THE PEACH & LILY PURE BEAM LUXE OIL?

Pure Beam is 100% natural and plant-based, delivers vital fatty acids and antioxidants, and helps reinforce your skin’s protective lipid barrier. Our luxe squalane, jojoba, camellia, grapeseed, and sea buckthorn oils are cold-pressed and untouched by chemicals. We love that it helps curb back excess sebum production for the oily spots, and helps restore the lipid barrier for the dry parts. A balancing oil that is equally great for combination skin as it is for very oily or dry skin. This oil packs your skin with antioxidants as it leaves it supple and soft. Indulge your skin with the purest ingredients and love your healthy glow.

Texture: readily-absorbed, non-greasy, doesn’t clog pores

Scent: barely there, ever so slightly earthy

A NOTE ON SKIN TYPE AND USE

My skin type is dry, dry, dry. I can’t emphasize this enough. I’m prone to a lot of flakiness, itchiness, and tightness if I don’t moisturize properly every day. I also will occasionally get small eczema flare-up’s, but by no means is it severe. (You can read about my latest flare-up, and the makeup I do to compensate, here.)

I primarily use the Peach & Lily Pure Beam Luxe Oil as the last step in my P.M. routine, after I apply my moisturizer. But I’ve also started to apply it right before I apply my makeup to provide a shot of hydration during the day.

MY THOUGHTS ON PACKAGING

Totally love! This is a smooth, slightly weighty bottle with a pipette delivery system (of course). The design is sleek, modern and should please any Millennial and Gen Z’er out there. (I don’t mean to imply that only people under 35/40 can find use for this oil; I’m strictly speaking aesthetics here!) Plus, I haven’t experienced any leaking or messiness as sometimes can happen with very liquidy beauty products over time.

RATING: 5 / 5 ⭐️

MY THOUGHTS ON CONSISTENCY / APPLICATION

This is a super light oil with almost zero greasiness; I can totally see why they claim this is suitable for all skin types. So no surprise, the consistency is quite runny here. There’s also no scent whatsoever, nothing even faintly herbal or essential oil-like.

I usually apply about two drops onto the back of my hand, and then dot it across my cheeks, nose, forehead and chin for even application before gently pressing it into my skin. You could just as easily rub your hands together, and gently press the oil into your skin that way too. I’m just so used to dabbing and patting, that’s what I do!

RATING: 5 / 5 ⭐️

MY THOUGHTS ON ABSORPTION / FINISH

As an extremely lightweight oil, this sinks into the skin almost instantly. It’s probably the closest thing to a dry oil that I’ve used so far in my skincare routine, although Peach & Lily don’t market it as a dry oil per se. Comparing it quickly to my beloved Virgin Chia Seed Oil from The Ordinary, it’s even lighter than that – both in consistency and finish – and leaves less residue on the skin. You do get a slightly shiny finish after the Peach & Lily absorbs (it’s an oil after all), but it doesn’t last very long. You just feel a lovely softness and boost of hydration to the skin without much tackiness.

I haven’t noticed any weird bunching or pilling when I’ve applied it right before my makeup, which is a big plus. So you can absolutely use it during the day; the brand recommends in the morning and at night.

MY THOUGHTS ON PRICE

For 30 mL of product, the Peach & Lily Pure Beam Luxe Oil retails for $39.00, which is the higher end of the mid-market scale heading into more luxury territory. I think this is a beautiful oil that helps keep my skin moisturized at night and throughout the day, but would I repurchase it for the price? Hm, I’m not sure at the moment. You are getting a blend of 4 oils (jojoba seed, grapeseed, camellia japonica seed, sea buckthorn) plus antioxidant-rich squalane; none of which are particularly expensive or unique in skincare these days. But if you look at the product as a whole, you are getting 5 oils for the price of one. For instance, 60 mL of 100% pure camellia japonica oil will run you about $15.00 on Amazon alone. That being said, I’d still likely try to find something comparable from The Ordinary or The Inkey List for cheaper before I repurchased the Peach & Lily.

RATING: 4 / 5 ⭐️

Two drops of the Peach & Lily Pure Beam Luxe Oil barely rubbed into my hand.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I really like this oil, and if you’re looking for something unscented, easy-to-use, non-offensive and non-greasy I’d say go for it. You just have to be willing to part with a little more cash than perhaps you’d like.

Have you tried the Pure Beam Luxe Oil? What’s your favorite face oil? I’d love to know!

xo, and be well, Erica
