Hi friends!
We’re talking foundation today. You may remember that a few months ago I was generously gifted a bottle of the Lancôme Le Teint Particulier, a foundation that is 100% customized to your unique skin tone, skin type, and preferences. If you’d like to read more about my experience and how the whole matching process works, I really encourage you to read the full article I wrote for Blushup. Or you can visit the Lancôme website where there’s a ton of information on this product.
After my color was matched, I chose my desired coverage and hydration levels. I chose light coverage with a satiny/dewy finish, so it’s important to keep that in mind for this review. Obviously no two reviews of this product will be the same since you are creating something unique to you. But I still wanted to tell you guys how I’ve actually enjoyed the product so far.
So let’s get into the review now!

HOW I APPLY LANCÔME LE TEINT PARTICULIER FOUNDATION
I went through A LOT of trial and error learning how best to apply this foundation. More so than any other base product I’ve used. What I found was that stippling motions with a soft, dense brush are the best to flawlessly blend this in. I bet if you use a beauty sponge with this formula it would look beautiful too; I just don’t have one at the moment. Fingers and swiping motions don’t work, nor do large flat foundation brushes.
But no matter what base product I use, I work in thin layers and build up coverage where I need or want it. I think this is key for longevity. I tend to concentrate product around my nose, cheeks, and forehead.
MY THOUGHTS ON PACKAGING
After your custom foundation is mixed, the slim plastic tube is slipped into this hard plastic outer packaging that you see in the image below. On the front you have the unique name (I named mine Snow), your complexion ID (for re-ordering purposes), batch number, and expiration date. It’s extremely lightweight but it doesn’t feel particularly luxurious for what you’re paying, to be honest. It also has a small pump, which in my case likes to stick every now and then so I often end up with a bigger blob of product than I wanted.
RATING: 3 / 5 ⭐️
MY THOUGHTS ON APPLICATION
This formula can be a bit precious to work with, and by that I mean challenging. I found that with finger application I could actually see product sitting in my pores and clinging to small dry spots. Kinda gross! I also noticed that when I layered a thicker moisturizer underneath, like Weleda Skin Food Light, the foundation sat very strangely on my skin.
But if you stipple the foundation in either with a sponge or dense brush over a thinner primer or moisturizer like MAC Strobe Cream for instance, it will disappear into your skin in the best possible way. Plus stippling gives you extra coverage anyway. For reference, I use a mini Bobbi Brown Face Blender Brush now every time I apply this.
RATING: 3.5 / 5 ⭐️
MY THOUGHTS ON FINISH
I would say this has a very natural finish on the skin. Somewhere between matte and luminous – a true satiny texture. I really like it, and it’s complementary to my skin type.
RATING: 5 / 5 ⭐️
MY THOUGHTS ON COVERAGE
To remind you, I chose light coverage when I created this foundation and that’s exactly what it gives me. Hooray! See the before and after photos below. I can build up the coverage a bit but too much. I like to see all my freckles through my base products so this is perfect for me.
RATING: 5 / 5 ⭐️
Left: before application. Right: after application.
MY THOUGHTS ON COLOR MATCH
So did Lancôme’s color technology match me correctly? I’d say yes! This is probably the best foundation I’ve owned in terms of color-matching. I find so many foundations are either too yellow or neutral on me, but this is just my shade! It disappears like moisturizer into my skin with no harsh lines or weird oxidization.
RATING: 5 / 5 ⭐️
MY THOUGHTS ON LONGEVITY
I apply really thin layers of this product so I find the longevity is quite good on me. You should know that I do have dry skin that tends to grip onto makeup quite well anyway, but I always apply moisturizer before my base. Typical wear on this for me is about 9 to 11 hours as long as I’m not sweating profusely or in extreme heat/humid conditions.
RATING: 5 / 5 ⭐️
MY THOUGHTS ON PRICE
As you can probably imagine, this ain’t exactly cheap. The entire process from appointment, to color-matching, to mixing, plus the cost of the product itself will run you $88.00. Is it worth it? I’d say it depends on two things: a) how exact you want your color-match to be, and b) do you care at all about the whole experience of color-matching. To be honest, you can just as easily walk into a MAC store or to any makeup counter and ask for a consultant for help with color-matching. Chances are it will cost you a lot less than $88.00!
RATING: 3 / 5 ⭐️
FINAL THOUGHTS
Undoubtedly it was a very cool experience for me to get officially color-matched using the Lancôme Le Teint Particulier Foundation. But will I reorder another bottle when mine runs out? Probably not. The formula is a bit fussy to use, and the process is too pricey.
Would you get color-matched using the Lancôme technology? I’d love to know!
