Hi friends!
Here’s my monthly round-up of some awesome and eye-catching Instagram beauty images that are currently giving me all the inspiration right now. I’ve culled the following list from some amazing bloggers, brands, retailers and makeup artists that I follow on the platform, and I hope they in turn inspire you!
Before we get into this month’s accounts, make sure you catch up on my previous lists here if you haven’t: Vol. 1 / Vol. 2 / Vol. 3 / Vol. 4 / Vol. 5 / Vol. 6.
I love everything about this image, from the color palette, to the contrasting textures, to the density of products. I’m a real sucker for the Lilah b. packaging (it’s so unique and it photographs beautifully!), but I think the single element here that initially drew my attention to this image was the textured Dior box. So cool! It’s a very well-composed photograph, and I applaud Jessica, who runs the @yoursbutbetterx account, big time! Please go and follow her; she has a gorgeous feed and is so sweet & supportive!
I started following Terry Barber, the Director of Makeup Artistry for MAC Cosmetics, just recently on Instagram and I’m so glad I did. If you’re really into editorial looks and learning about what artists get inspired by, please go follow his account @terrybarberonbeauty. You won’t be disappointed! In this particular image, Terry used the same pink lipstick on all the features of the face (the eyes, the cheeks & the lips) for the ultimate monochromatic look. I absolutely love his makeup philosophy, his playfulness, and his creativity. I’m very into using makeup products in a multi-functional way at the moment (i.e. lipsticks as cheek colors, cheek colors as eyeshadows, etc), so this really speaks to my soul!
This image is actually a sneak peek of the first color cosmetic launch from @supergoop, the skincare brand that exclusively focuses on suncare (which I may write about in a blog post next month). This may seem like an odd choice to include on this list since it’s not really clear what is being shown here. However, I just found myself drawn to it. Who doesn’t love a little bit of mystery, right??
I’m so in love with all the content that blogger Laurie, who runs the @laurieish account, creates. Her feed is full of stunning product shots in a rich color palette of burnt ambers, oranges, and pinks. I could have picked any one to feature here, but since I also own both of the necklaces in this image I had to go with this one! Both are gorgeous designs from Missoma in the style of a Roman coin (left) and a horn (right). These look like they have a rose gold finish (I have the gold finish). Against that muted pinky-red backdrop, they look even more beautiful!
To be honest, I don’t know much about the skincare brand @feltformula. But I’ve been following them on Instagram for a while now basically because I like their branding. Full disclosure! It’s very pleasing to look at, especially if you like minimal & simplistic designs. I wanted to include this image particularly because it features only three products. Sometimes I think you have to jam as many products as possible into one shot in order for it to perform well on Instagram’s algorithm. I don’t know if this theory is 100% true of course (perhaps it has more to do with the way you photograph products), but nonetheless this is my small show of support to minimalism.
And as she talks about minimalism, she then shows you an image of a thousand lipsticks. What can I say? I’m a contradiction, just like a lot of us are 😉. This image from beauty retailer @beautylish is all about the color for me. I love the contrast of all the reds against the pink backdrop. I’ve heard about the K-beauty brand VDL from the absolute babe of Instagram that is Katie Jane Hughes, but I didn’t realize they also made color cosmetics; I thought they were solely a skincare brand. Clearly I need to do some research!
The @beaute.defile account, run by content creator Christina, is another feed that’s not to be missed if you love artfully-styled beautyscapes. I love how the Laura Mercier products in this particular image are just one feature in an almost voyeuristic scene. The comb, the lit candle, the books – it’s like we’ve stumbled into someone else’s room just as they stepped out for a moment. Absolutely love it!
Oh my gosh, how could I not include this?? It’s just too cute. If I ever am lucky enough to have a daughter, I imagine she’d be a bit like this 😁.
What have you been inspired by lately, either on and off social media? I’d love to know!
xo, Erica
PIN IT!
I love the colors in the first picture! It’s so soft and pretty! And that last picture? Adorable!!!
I know, isn’t it?? She’s just the cutest! 😍
Always love the photos you include in this series, Erica. I’m especially drawn to the second one. So cool how the same product was used all over the face!
I know! I love to see how creative and resourceful makeup artists can be with certain products like lipsticks, blushes, etc. Most of the time us consumers think we need a separate product for a separate purpose (brands make us feel this time I know), but really you can use just a few items to create one whole look. So cool!
Such beautiful instagram photos! I love how everyone has a different aesthetic to their grid, even if they’re sharing similar products. Instagram is so fun 🙂
I wish I was disciplined enough to theme my feed like so many other Instagrammers do, but I’m just too lazy 😆.
It’s way too much work sometimes!
Such a beautiful post! I remember back in my high school years.:-) Keep sharing I love to read this type of article.
Thank you so much for your sweet comment!!
