Hi friends!
I’ve always been a bit skeptic when it comes to face mists and sprays. I’ve included a few on my various beauty anti-wishlists, and I usually pass them right by in store aisles. I’ve just always thought they were unnecessary for me. I get my hydration from my skincare and primers, and when I want long-lasting makeup I use my tried-and-tested favorites (read this post for more info on those) – which spoiler, don’t include a face mist. But perhaps I haven’t met the right one yet, I always thought.
So recently I was strolling the beauty aisles at Target and I came across the new and improved Pixi display. (They took Pixi away for a while at my local store, causing me a certain amount of anguish, but it’s back now baby!) Just when I thought I should really delve more into their skincare someday, I saw the Pixi Glow Mist. I’d heard such great things about it for years, along with their Hydrating Milky Mist. Could the Glow Mist be the product that changed my mind about face mists? Fifteen bucks lighter, I was ready to find out!
WHAT DOES THE PIXI GLOW MIST CLAIM TO DO?
- Gives a glowing, luminous and smooth complexion.
- Enriched with 13 natural oils plus propolis, aloe vera and fruit extracts.
- Hydrates, protects and nourishes.
- Sets makeup, adds a dewy finish and protects skin.
- Refreshes makeup, hydrates and adds glow.
- Use on hair for a luminous, healthy glow.
- Suits all skin types.
- Not tested on animals.
For reference, I’ve only used this right after I apply my makeup; I apply several pumps all over after shaking the bottle for a few seconds. I have not tested it on bare skin.

SO…DOES IT EVEN DO ANYTHING??
For me, I haven’t really noticed much difference in my skin or makeup since before using this mist sadly. And keep in mind, I have quite dry skin so I usually benefit from products that give both hydration and dew.
Does it give glow? Yes, a little bit right after application. However, after a few minutes the effect is gone and never to return.
Is my skin more hydrated? Perhaps marginally. Like I said earlier, I get the most hydration from whatever skincare or primer I’ve used underneath my makeup.
Does it extend the wear of my makeup? Again, perhaps marginally. My skin tends to hold onto makeup quite well normally, so it’s hard for me to tell if the Glow Mist really helps in that regard.
I do really like the actual mister. The product comes out really finely and evenly; it’s a very soothing experience overall.
DID THE PIXI GLOW MIST CHANGE MY MIND ABOUT MISTS?
Not really. I enjoy the experience of using it, but it hasn’t become a staple in my routine by any means. I just don’t see enough effects from it. I do think it’s a nice, affordable product for the right person but it’s something I could take or leave. I’ll likely not repurchase it.
Have you tried the Glow Mist before? What are your thoughts? I’d love to know!
xo, Erica
PIN IT!
Guess it is a pass. Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Glow or whatever it is called 😬 is a wonderful skin illuminator…. that works ! 😉💄
Yes you are right! The Flawless Filter, such a classic!
I really like the bottle it comes in. I wish more spray bottles were made that way.
The packaging is great, nothing to complain about there. Plus the mist is super fine and lovely to experience on the skin!
It’s always so hard to tell if a facial mist actually does anything beyond initial hydration. I find they do help me in the winter, but in summer I don’t really need them. That being said I do really enjoy the regular setting mist from Pixi! I haven’t tried their glow mist though. Sorry it didn’t really work out for you!
Perhaps I will get more use out of it in the cooler months, but right now I almost always forget to use it! I was really good at remembering in the first few weeks at least. I know a lot of people like the Pixi mists, but perhaps I got the wrong one for me…? I don’t know, but oh well.
I don’t remember either unless I set one up next to my makeup lol. Well if mists don’t work for you it’s one less thing to spend money on!
Very true!
Erica, I appreciate your honesty in reviewing this 🙂 Your advice hasn’t steered me wrong yet and I am enjoying using a few of your recommendations recently. Thanks for helping me save money and be able to make smart choices at the makeup counter 🙂
Oh I’m so glad to hear that, thank you so much!! Hope all is well with you Sarah ❤️.
When I saw the title of this post, I was shouting “noooo!” Lol. The Glow Mist has been so useless for me. On clean skin it burns & over makeup it does nothing except I’m pretty sure it made me forehead break out. 😭 I do agree the mister is nice though!
You’ve gotta try Mac’s original Fix+ before you totally give up on face mists though.
How funny! Oh dear, I won’t be trying it on clean skin then! I was hoping for more with this mist, but sadly it’s just not that helpful for me.
Unfortunately I think I may be allergic to Fix+!! The last time I used it I got all stuffy and sneezy 🤧 it’s a shame cause it’s a great product.
Same! When I received it in my Ipsy, I was ecstatic but I’ll prob be discarding it now. 😛 The Fix+ does have a little scent to it, so maybe that’s what you’re allergic to? Ugh. I’m sorry!
No idea but it’s a shame. It gives the skin such a beautiful finish!
I still havent tried any of their mists because of the higher price it has. I prefer going for the travel sizes of the Mario Badescu which I like for refreshing and cooling the skin lol. Often I do like to use them for makeup, especially when I’m feeling extra dry to bring some hydration back into my skin. Sounds like this one is not really worth it though lol. Thanks for your honest review.
I’m wondering if I’ll get more use from it in the winter when my skin is retched. We’ll see! Never used any of the Mario Badescu mists before, but if they sell travel sizes I might try one. I do love a mini!
Oh yes the winter lol. I kind of use some of the mists in place of toner and my skin feels pretty good. Of course that’s just me. I currently use three different ones for different purposes lol. Well the orange blossom I use in the mornings, especially after workouts. The cucumber one on hot days to refresh my skin throughout the day. And the lavender at night time, sometimes I will use my toner too but I’ve bee able to use it in place of my toner as well. I like the calming effects of lavender on my mind and my skin since I do have those stressful days as mom lol.
Anyway I’m rambling. the mini sizes are $5 USD and they contain 2 fl oz. I actually just ordered the rose water one in one of my Ulta hauls online. Well see how I like that one too
Ohh I love the idea of the cucumber and the lavender scents! I just think mini’s are such a great way to sample a product you’re not sure about, you know? And $5, wow what a steal! Hope you like the rose scented version too!
Yes they are! I also love that they’re small in size because I can toss them in my backpack for on-the-go 😀
