Hi friends!
It’s time for another review today, and now we’re going to deep-dive into the new Revlon PhotoReady Candid Concealer. This is a fairly new release from Revlon, and in addition to this concealer formula there’s also a foundation in the range as well. I saw this on a display in one of local CVS stores, and I just couldn’t help myself from picking it up; I love trying new concealers! I’m always searching for the perfect one, kinda like with mascaras.
I’ve been trialing this product in my routine since early(ish) December, so without further delay, let’s get started!

HOW I APPLY THIS PRODUCT
If you’ve been following the blog for a while now you’ll know that I apply about 80% of my makeup with my fingers. This concealer is no different. So I use the applicator to dot 3 to 4 small circles under my eyes and into the dark inner corners. I also take this around the corners of my nose where I have redness & broken veins. I then gently tap & stipple the product into my skin with my index finger for maximum coverage. I find using sponges & brushes takes away too much coverage for my liking. I then always set my concealer with a small amount of the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder.

MY THOUGHTS ON PACKAGING
Like the Joah Beauty Truly Yours Full Cover Concealer, I think the packaging for this Revlon concealer is great. It’s small, lightweight and perfectly suited to throw in your makeup travel bag or your purse. The tube is a slightly squishy plastic and the cap unscrews to reveal a wide but curved doe-foot applicator that eventually tapers. I do find that the applicator holds a bit too much product, so I have to scrape it off along the sides. I’m not bothered by this at the moment because the product hasn’t managed to leak after I’ve reinserted the applicator and closed the tube.

MY THOUGHTS ON APPLICATION
This applies very easily onto the skin without much tugging or pulling. I’d class the consistency as thin-to-medium in terms of thickness, and it definitely has a creaminess to it. A few taps of my finger and this is pretty much completely blended into my skin. I’ve never experienced any clinging or weird patches that won’t blend in. I like the shape of the doe-foot applicator purely because it nestles into the inner corner of the eye very pleasingly.

MY THOUGHTS ON COVERAGE
Revlon has been quite direct with this product and literally printed the words Medium Coverage on the back, after listing the product benefits (refer to the photo above). I would absolutely agree with that claim. This is not going to completely erase every little imperfection on your skin, but it’s certainly going to cover redness & discoloration well enough. It’s got a very buildable consistency, which I personally love in a concealer. I always believe you should be able to tailor the amount of coverage to your liking with base products. Clearly though if you want really full coverage this concealer will not be satisfactory to you.

MY THOUGHTS ON SHADE SELECTION
There are 18 shades available in this concealer range, which I think is great. Could it be even better? Absolutely. But it’s definitely a big improvement over other drugstore concealer ranges. Unfortunately though I picked the wrong shade for myself in this instance, whoops! The CVS I went to seemed to have a very limited shade selection, so I got Light. Normally I go for any shade called Fair or Porcelain. Light is definitely not light enough for me and it’s so incredibly yellow, wow! (I have a pink undertone.) But I can just make it work on myself since it blends in so seamlessly.

MY THOUGHTS ON LONGEVITY
This lasts on my dry skin quite well throughout the day without much fading, peeling or cracking. At the end of normal wear-time (my standard is about 9/10 hours), I still have coverage under my eyes so I’d say the longevity here is very good. Please keep in mind though thay I’ve only been trialing this during the coldness of winter, so I haven’t been exposed to any natural heat and/or humidity while wearing this product yet.

MY THOUGHTS ON PRICE
So based on the prices I listed above, you can pick up this concealer for anywhere between $7.00-$10.00 depending on the retailer. For what Revlon is offering with this product, I think that’s a very fair drugstore price that I would happily pay again. However, if you wanted to get nitty-gritty about it, the Joah Beauty Truly Yours Full Cover Concealer (another buildable, medium coverage concealer) is only $6.50 for 0.53 oz. of product. (Remember, the Revlon is just 0.34 fl. oz.) However, Joah Beauty doesn’t offer nearly the amount of shades that Revlon does. So there’s definitely a trade-off.

FINAL THOUGHTS
If you can’t tell already, I think this concealer is a hit! It ticks all the boxes for me: buildable coverage, creaminess, easy blendability, & longevity. Plus it’s drugstore! How can you go wrong?
Have you tried the Revlon PhotoReady Candid Concealer yet? What is your fave drugstore concealer? I’d love to know!

Great review! I have yet to find the perfect concealer for me. At this price, though I can at least afford to try this! I can’t believe how yellow it is! 😲
This is a good one that’s worth checking out!
I always liked Revlon…thanks!
😉
Erica, I really like this product. I am going to absolutely get that. Looks like an amazing concealer. I use my fingers all the time. That’s the best way to apply your foundation or concealer. I think I should get this one in medium shade as it’s pretty affordable. Thanks for the review.
Finger application is the way to go! It’s the onky way to make makeup really adhere to the skin & seem more life-like. It’s definitely worth trying out!
Sounds great and for that price point, even greater! You gotta live drugstore makeup nowadays😉!
I definitely do! 😊
Wow..seems like a great product. The price point is so good. I did not use a concealer till last year (during my daughter’s wedding I had my make up done and the make up artist introduced me to it). I am still reluctant to apply it. This is seems easy enough to use. One could try a few till you find the perfect skin match. Thank you so much.
This is very user-friendly for sure, so I think it would be great for beginners or for those that don’t want to put much on. I didn’t really wear concealer until a few years ago either. It makes so much of a difference though (at least on me), I don’t think I could abandon it now!
Erica, this is just what I needed…was thinking Milani but you sold me on the Revlon!
It’s a good one! And very easy to use, so I definitely recommend checking it out.
Oh yeah, I should also say one of my favorite concealers so far has been the Maybelline luminous in the lightest color they have for winter 🙂 I think I might try this one. You have pink undertones? I do too! I might try to see if they have ivory or something like that. I tan in the summer so my winter colors always end up making me look raccoonish if I try to wear them after being outside.
There are so many good drugstore concealers, I love it! This Revlon one has a decent shade range, so you should be able to find one that works for you. I have such strong pink undertones in my skin, my goodness. I can’t tan to save my life, I wish I could!
Wow, very thoughtful and detailed review. Nice job! I love when people are passionate about what they’re sharing. Makes a world of difference, doesn’t it?
I’d always heard that caffeine in skin and hair products truly does have a significant health effect. Always found that intriguing. The applicator looks nice too. Easy to use is a big plus! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Thanks so much for reading and taking the time to write such a lovely comment! I do love writing about beauty, so I’m glad it shows! Easy-to-use products are the only ones I want to use 😉. Yes definitely, I’ve heard that caffeine especially under the eyes can have a positive effect.
