But today we’re talking about hair tools, more specifically an amazing hair dryer from Revlon that gives the best salon blowout at home, in my humble opinion. Considering many hair salons across the country are still closed due to COVID, it’s more important than ever to find those tools that will give you the salon experience we’re all missing. Well, get right on the internet now and look up the Uber-popular One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer. It’s sold out on both Revlon’s website and on Ulta, but still available on Amazon (linked up above), Walmart, and at Target. Apparently it’s the top seller on Amazon in the Beauty and Personal Care category with over 30k 5-star reviews, so you know it’s gotta be good! It will set you back about $57.00.
Now, I’m not particularly big on hair dryers. Normally I shower at night, let my hair air-dry and then smooth and style it in the morning with a straightener. But I’ve been very drawn to this dryer lately because it’s so darn easy to use and the finished product is so beautiful.
Let’s get into more specific now!
WHAT IS THE REVLON ONE-STEP HAIR DRYER AND VOLUMIZER?
The Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer is a designed Hot Air Brush to deliver gorgeous volume and brilliant shine in a single step. The unique oval brush design smooth hair while the rounded edges quickly create volume at the root and beautifully full-bodied curls at the ends in a single pass, for salon blowouts at home.
MY HAIR TYPE AND TEXTURE
Before jumping in, a quick note on my hair. I have very thick but fine-textured hair that naturally waves. It can also be quite frizzy, especially in the summer months and when I don’t heat-style it at all. My main objectives when I use a hair tool is to smooth things out and “de-poof” everything.
So as you read this post, just keep your own hair texture and concerns in mind!

HOW IT WORKS
Now this is quite different than those heated brushes you see on the market, like the Amika Polished Perfection Straightening Brush for example. Those are mainly for straightening and styling on completely dry hair – not for blow-drying. The Revlon One-Step will both dry your hair and style it at the same time; so you must start with damp hair first. It has 360° bristles that comfortably grip onto the hair, and really simple settings (see photo above); no temperature settings like you get with a straightener.
What I do is very simple. I like to set it to “High” and slowly move the dryer from the crown of my head to the ends in rather large sections. Since my hair is thick, I’d say each section takes no more than 4 or 5 passes before it’s dry and smoothed. Personally I prefer my ends to turn in rather than flip out (I’m talking the anti-Mary Tyler Moore from The Mary Tyler Moore Show if you catch my drift!). So after each section is dried, I then take the dryer underneath the hair and pass from top to bottom if that makes sense. This also creates some volume in the hair if that’s what you’re after. But for me it helps to straighten the ends in the way I prefer.
All in all, it takes me no more than 15 minutes to do my whole head. That’s impressive considering how thick my hair is!
THE FINISHED RESULT
See the difference?? It’s so lovely! And so easy to achieve a salon blowout at home! If you have thinner hair, it’ll probably be an even faster and easier experience for you. What I particularly love about this dryer is the fact that it combines both a brush and dryer in one tool, so you have one hand free if you need it. That’s simply not the case with a traditional dryer and large round brush, which feels much more involved and cumbersome.
